HOTEL ESMERALDA, Paris

The hotel is directly across from Notre-Dame Cathedral and next to Shakespeare and Company bookshop. It is within walking distance of the Louvre, the Latin Quarter, and Saint-Germain-des-Prés. Two metro lines are a short walk away, making the entire city accessible without a car. The immediate area is packed with bistros, cafés, and restaurants. Public transport to CDG airport is about 50 metres from the hotel. The location is ideal for tourists who want to explore on foot, but street noise carries into rooms, especially at night and during events.

The hotel offers double, triple, and quadruple rooms, each with a private bathroom, free toiletries, and heating. Most rooms feature a view of the Seine and Notre-Dame. The building dates from 1640, giving the rooms a historic character with exposed beams and antique furniture. However, some rooms are very small - described as tight, with basic furnishings and no TV, coffee maker, or minibar. The bathrooms in some rooms are recently renovated with new fixtures, while in others they remain old and cramped. There is no air conditioning, only a ventilator, so windows must be opened in warm weather, which increases noise. Several reports indicate cleanliness can be inconsistent, particularly regarding carpets, wallpaper, and dust. There have been reports of bed bugs in certain rooms.

The hotel does not have a restaurant. Breakfast can be arranged and is typically served by the owner, offering fresh bread, croissants, butter, jam, coffee, tea, and fruit. The quality of this breakfast is often noted favourably by those who have had it. The surrounding Latin Quarter has a dense concentration of cafés, bistros, and restaurants within a few minutes' walk, providing ample choice for other meals.
