Focus Kuramae sits in a quiet residential pocket of Taito, 400 metres from Kuramae Jinja Shrine. The neighbourhood is packed with independent cafés and restaurants within a three-minute walk, including Coffee Wrights, Dandelion Chocolate, and Bistro Campagne. Asakusa and Senso-ji Temple are a 10-15 minute walk or one subway stop away, and Tokyo Skytree is visible from the nearby bridge. Haneda Airport is 29 km by road. The area is well connected for exploring central Tokyo, with multiple subway lines within a few hundred metres.

Private rooms (double, twin, single) are small - a full-sized suitcase may not open fully on the floor. Each private room includes a bed, a small table or desk, and a shared bathroom on the same floor. Dormitory beds have privacy curtains, a reading light, a small safe, and a cubby for belongings. Beds are 90-130 cm wide with comfortable mattresses. Noise can be an issue in rooms near the bathrooms and laundry; windows help with ventilation. All rooms are non-smoking and equipped with heating, air conditioning, and a washing machine for guest use. The dormitories on the fourth and fifth floors sleep 8 and 14 guests respectively; the ladies' dorm on the third floor sleeps 6. Note that the women-only shower area is currently on the third floor but will become mixed from February 7.

The on-site café opens from 3:00 PM, serving bar drinks and simple dishes. For morning coffee, several cafés are within a three-minute walk. The shared kitchen is fully equipped with a microwave, fridge, kettle, IH cooker, toaster, and basic seasonings. Free tea and filtered water are available in the lounge. Convenience stores are a three-minute walk for groceries. The surrounding neighbourhood offers a wide variety of affordable dining options within a five-minute radius, from ramen to French bistros.

The private-use sauna and onsen costs 4000 yen per session and must be booked individually at reception. The rooftop terrace provides outdoor seating and a designated smoking area, often used for evening socialising. The ground-floor lounge is open 24 hours with free WiFi, plenty of power outlets, and a relaxed atmosphere for working or meeting other travellers. Camera rental is available at the front desk free of charge, adding a creative option for sightseers.

WiFi is free throughout the building and strong enough for video calls. The shared kitchen on the ground floor includes a stove, microwave, toaster, and fridge. Laundry is self-service with a washer and dryer (fee). Luggage storage before check-in or after check-out costs 200 yen per day; on check-out day, luggage can be stored free until 11:00 PM. The reception can receive packages with prior notice. Payment is accepted by Visa, MasterCard, Amex, JCB, and Diners Club. Pets and smoking indoors are not allowed; a designated smoking area is on the rooftop. The hostel has a lift, and rooms on upper floors are reachable by lift.
