THE GATE HOTEL, Dublin

The Gate Hotel is situated on a busy central street, with Henry Street shopping a 5-minute walk away and Temple Bar, Connolly Station, Dublin Castle, Trinity College, and Croke Park all within about 10-20 minutes on foot. A bus stop 200 metres from the front door provides direct services to Dublin Airport, and the Luas tram stop is a few minutes' walk. The immediate area is lively and multicultural, with numerous pubs, bars, and late-night eateries surrounding the hotel. While the location is excellent for exploring the city centre, the neighbourhood can be noisy at night, and some find it less suitable for those seeking a quiet stay. The hotel is a short walk from the Aircoach stop, making airport transfers straightforward.

All rooms provide an en suite bathroom with a shower (no bathtubs), free toiletries, a wardrobe, carpeted floors, and heating. Some rooms have a ceiling window that cannot be closed, allowing light in from early morning. The hotel has no air conditioning, and many rooms become very warm, especially in summer; a portable fan is available on request but may not be sufficient. The mattress quality varies significantly, with some springs being felt through the covering. Rooms are spread over three floors; a room on an upper floor or overlooking the internal courtyard can considerably reduce noise from the bar and street. The decor is dated, and some furniture may show wear. No room has a balcony. Housekeeping is daily, but some have reported that servicing can be inconsistent. For those who value a good night's sleep, selecting a room away from the street side is strongly recommended.

The 24-hour reception team can assist with luggage storage (free of charge), late check-out requests (subject to availability and an extra charge), and arranging taxis or discounted parking tickets. The hotel provides a safety deposit box for valuables. Daily housekeeping is included, and ironing facilities are in each room. There is no laundry service. Wi-Fi is free and available throughout the building but can be intermittently stable. Public parking is available 10 minutes' walk away at Park Rite (Loftus Lane), where guests receive a 30-50% discount ticket. The hotel has no lift, with three floors accessible only by stairs, which creates a limitation for guests with mobility needs or heavy luggage. The entrance is secured by a bell system, and late-night access requires showing a key card to the night porter.
