HAWTHORN EXTENDED STAY BY WYNDHAM COLUMBIA-FT JACKSON, Columbia

The property is situated 14 km from Robert Mills House and Gardens and the Columbia Museum of Art, 16 km from the South Carolina State Museum and Colonial Life Arena, and 25 km from Columbia Metropolitan Airport. Several chain restaurants - including Outback Steakhouse, Jasmine Buffet, IHOP, and Captain D's - are all within 1 km. The immediate area is near a major highway, making car travel practical, though the surroundings are not particularly inviting for pedestrians. Parking on-site is free but requires a reservation. The location works best for those with a vehicle, especially for trips to Fort Jackson or as a base for attending events at the university or arena.

Available room types include double rooms with one bed, quadruple rooms with two beds, and suites. All rooms feature air conditioning, heating, a private bathroom with bath or shower, and a TV. Some rooms are interior-corridor hotel-style, while others open directly to the outside like a motel - a distinction not always clear at booking. The suites come with a kitchenette including a full-size refrigerator, two-burner stove, and basic cookware (though pots and pans may not always be provided on request). Beds and sofas are consistently described as firm and comfortable, with fresh sheets and towels. However, cleanliness and maintenance are uneven: reported issues include stained carpets, mold in bathrooms, dirty floors, broken fixtures, pests (roaches), and strong odors in some units. Road-facing and ground-floor rooms may experience more noise. Room sizes vary; some are compact, while suites are spacious. For a better experience, request an interior-corridor room and confirm room condition at check-in.

Breakfast includes hot items such as eggs, French toast, waffles, and sausage, along with continental options like cereal, yogurt, pastries, bagels, and fresh fruit. Coffee and tea are also available. The breakfast area can get busy, and the breakfast service hours are limited, so planning an early start helps. The on-site bar and restaurant are not currently operational. Several chain restaurants are located within 1 km of the hotel for other meal options. The lobby also features a vending machine for snacks and drinks.

The outdoor swimming pool is open seasonally and equipped with sun loungers. However, reports indicate the pool may sometimes be closed or in poor condition, with algae and a soft, uneven floor. Check pool availability before booking if swimming is a priority. The fitness centre is free and open 24 hours, though some equipment may not be perfectly level. An outdoor garden area with lawn games is available for children.
