HERITAGE HOTEL NEW YORK CITY, New York

Set on a relatively quiet street between Broadway and 6th Avenue, the hotel puts the best of Manhattan within a 10-15 minute walk: Empire State Building, Madison Square Garden, Herald Square, and the shops of 5th Avenue. The 23rd Street subway station is just a few minutes away, providing direct F, M, and other lines to all parts of the city including JFK airport (via a change to the Airtrain) and LaGuardia (via bus to Jackson Heights and the F train). Times Square is a 25-minute walk or a short taxi/uber ride. A weekend flea market operates across the street, and a CVS, Whole Foods, and numerous restaurants are within a block or two.

Room options include double, twin, triple, quadruple, deluxe quadruple, and family suites. The family suite connects a room with a king bed to a room with two double beds, sharing one bathroom. Rooms are generally compact, typical for Manhattan, with some feeling very small for two people and limited luggage storage. A few rooms have a bathtub instead of a shower. Windows cannot be opened for fresh air in many rooms, and the older through-window air-conditioning units can be noisy. Some rooms face a courtyard or interior light well, while others provide a direct view of the Empire State Building. Beds are generally described as comfortable. Noise from neighbouring rooms and hallway fire doors is a notable issue.

Breakfast is not available at the hotel. There is no restaurant or bar. A vending machine for drinks and snacks is on site. The front desk can recommend nearby dining, and the surrounding area is dense with options: Luke's Lobster, Hill Country Chicken, Odo, and La Pecora Bianca are all within a three-minute walk. A popular café (Maman) is next door for breakfast and lunch, and several delis and bagel shops are nearby. The hotel also provides a small seating area near the back where you can enjoy your own food.

The fitness centre is open around the clock and can be entered using your key card. Equipment does not include dumbbells. There is no pool, spa, or wellness centre on the property. The hotel's excellent walkable location provides easy access to Madison Square Park and the High Line for outdoor leisure.

Reception is staffed 24/7, allowing late arrivals and early departures. Luggage storage is available both before check-in and after checkout for a small fee ($2 per bag after checkout). A business centre and fax/photocopying service are available for an additional charge. The front desk can arrange tours and provides concierge service. An ATM is on site. Safety features include 24-hour security, CCTV, safety deposit boxes, and smoke alarms. The lift serves all floors but the front entrance has a few steps, which can be inconvenient with heavy luggage. Housekeeping must be requested a day in advance; daily cleaning is not automatic. Laundry service is not provided, but laundromats are nearby. A travel cot is available on request. Pets are not allowed.
