HIP KARMA HOSTEL, Barcelona

Hip Karma Hostel sits in a traditional Modernist building between two metro stations, making every part of central Barcelona walkable or a short ride away. North Bus Station is 8 minutes' walk, so arriving by long-distance coach is convenient. Left luggage is free, so you can drop bags before check-in and immediately explore Plaça de Catalunya, the Gothic Quarter, and Las Ramblas. The area feels safe and central, with supermarkets, pharmacies, fruit shops, and numerous cafés and tapas bars on the doorstep. For airport access, the Aerobus departs from Plaça de Catalunya; the metro can also connect to the airport train.

Private rooms are available as twin (2 single beds) or triple (3 single beds), with either an en-suite bathroom or a private bathroom outside the room. These rooms include bedding, towels, air conditioning, and a flat-screen smart TV. Dormitories (mixed-gender) offer bunk beds, each with a curtain for privacy, a reading light, a personal locker with electrical socket, and basic bedding rental needed for 2-3€. Triple rooms and some private rooms feature a balcony - check availability when booking. Rooms face the exterior, so street noise can be audible; light sleepers may prefer a quieter room. Decor is modern and clean, with parquet flooring and good air conditioning noted as effective. All rooms are non-smoking.

The hostel does not serve breakfast or operate a restaurant or bar, but the shared kitchen - with large fridge, hob, satellite TV, and all essentials - allows guests to prepare their own meals. Many nearby cafés and restaurants are within 0.3-0.5 km, including Mundo Casero, Pink Soda Cafe, and Super Coffee & Food for breakfast or brunch, and tapas spots like Casa Lolea Barcelona. Plaça de Catalunya's dining options are a 10-minute walk. Budget-conscious travellers can shop at the nearby supermarket and store food in the kitchen's assigned fridge space.

Services are geared toward practical, independent travel. The 24-hour front desk (March-October; reception open until 20:30 outside those months) handles check-in and queries. Free luggage storage before check-in or after check-out helps with late flights. Laundry is available for an additional charge. Lockers in common areas are free, and each dorm bed has a personal security locker (bring your own lock or buy one for 6€ per stay). Private check-in/out and a tour desk are also on site. CCTV and smoke alarms are installed. The lift serves upper floors. Internet is free and fast everywhere.
