HOSTEL JASMIN, Prague

The hostel sits under Žižkov hill in the up-and-coming Karlín district, 2 km from Municipal House and 3 km from Prague Astronomical Clock. The area offers many restaurants, cafés, and parks within a short walk, including Café Vitkov and Rohanský Island via a footbridge. Public transport is excellent: tram stops are 400 metres away, and metro Florenc and Křižíkova stations are 700 metres. The city centre is a 20-30 minute walk or a quick tram ride. Vaclav Havel Airport is 14 km; by public transport take bus 119 to metro A, then B to Křižíkova, followed by a 3-minute walk.

Accommodation consists of shared dormitories with 8 beds each, often configured as interconnected rooms (16 beds sharing a common entrance). Each bed has a privacy curtain, a reading light, a power socket, and a locker (size 90x38x45 cm). Beds are clean but the metal frames can be squeaky and wobbly. Some rooms have parquet floors and soundproofed walls, though internal noise from doors, floorboards, and plumbing is common. The women-only apartment features a private, lockable bathroom and located in a separate flat. There are only two shared bathrooms per floor (toilet and shower combined), which can lead to queues during peak hours. Cleanliness of bathrooms varies; some periods are well-maintained, others report issues with sewage smell, wet floors, and broken fixtures. No heating issues have been noted in some stays. The building is old and lacks an elevator.

The shared kitchen is equipped with a fridge, microwave, electric kettle, and basic utensils. There is no stove or oven, so cooking full meals is not possible. The kitchen area includes a dining table and seating. For meals, numerous cafés, bars, and international restaurants are within a 5-10 minute walk, such as Cihelna La Familia and Spojka Karlin, both 0.5 km away. The Florenc area also has convenience stores and bakeries for self-catering.

Free WiFi is available in all areas. Paid airport shuttle service can be arranged (pickup and drop-off, additional charge). Ironing service is also available for a fee. Luggage storage is offered after checkout for no extra charge. The shared lounge/TV area provides a place to socialise. Lockers with keys are provided for each bed. There is no on-site parking, but free street parking is possible on weekends and weekdays after 20:00. The building has no elevator - stairs only. Check-in can be completed from 14:00, with early check-in possible from 10:00 upon request. Reception is not staffed 24/7; late arrivals after 00:30 require prior notice.
