HOTELO LYON CHARITE, Lyon

The hotel sits in a 19th-century building next to the elegant Place Carnot in the historic Presqu'île district. Perrache transport hub (trains, metro line A, tram lines T1 and T2, and multiple bus routes) is a 3-minute walk, making trips to the city centre, Part-Dieu business district and Lyon-Saint Exupéry airport straightforward via rail. For drivers, the E15/A6 and A7 motorways are a few minutes away by car. The old town (Vieux Lyon) and Bellecour square are within a 10-15-minute walk, and numerous restaurants and cafés cluster within two blocks. The area has a busy urban feel with tram and road traffic, so rooms facing the street can be noisier.

Breakfast is served from 07:00 to 11:00 in a bright room and covers a range of continental and full English/Irish options. The spread includes fresh bread, croissants, yoghurts, fruit juice, coffee and tea, plus a hot buffet and cheeses. The property has a coffee shop on site and can accommodate special diet menus on request. There is no restaurant or bar, but guests can rely on the many restaurants within a 2-5 minute walk - options include Brasserie l'EnKfee, Café Vatel, Cuisine et Dependances Acte 2 and Chez Micheline, all about 0.5 km away. For a wider choice, the surrounding streets offer bistros, brasseries and take-away options.

The hotel does not have a spa, swimming pool, or fitness centre. Leisure facilities are limited to a shared lounge/TV area and board games/puzzles. The main leisure appeal is the hotel's central location, which puts Lyon's museums, the Confluence district, the old town and the riverbanks within easy walking distance. Live sports events are broadcast for free.

The hotel offers a 24-hour reception with concierge service, express check-in/check-out, free luggage storage and daily housekeeping (on request). Wi-Fi is free throughout. Private parking costs €25 per night and must be reserved; the garage height limit is 1.90 m - roof boxes and high vans cannot fit, but a nearby public car park (Q Park Carnot, max 2.20 m) is available. There is no lift. Ground-floor rooms are available on request. The property is completely non-smoking, has soundproof rooms and provides key-card access with 24-hour security and smoke alarms. Family rooms, board games and cots are available. No pets are allowed. Accepted payment methods include American Express, Visa, Carte Bleue, Maestro, ANCV chèques-vacances and MasterCard.
