Room sizes vary; many are compact, especially the bathrooms where space is tight. Beds are either twin or double with firm mattresses - some find them comfortable, others very hard. There is no air conditioning, so summer stays rely on open windows, which can admit traffic and tram noise from the street. Soundproofing between rooms is minimal. Instead of a wardrobe, rooms have a coat rack with hangers and shelves for luggage. No kettle, fridge, or safe is provided. Some rooms have been renovated and are noticeably fresher and cleaner. Opt for a newly refurbished 'Comfort Room' if available to avoid dated furnishings and potential damp issues. Heating is available in winter, but some report inadequate warmth in corner rooms.
