The inn is located at the center of Newport, with everything downtown accessible on foot. Thames Street is a one-minute walk away, and a stop for the free trolley is just one block from the property. The White Horse Tavern, the oldest tavern in New England, is directly across the street. Easton's Beach is 2 km away, and the Cliff Walk, Ocean Drive, and other beaches are 2 km from the inn. For a car-free visit, the free trolley and water taxis provide easy access to the mansions and coast. Parking is free and on-site, making it practical for drivers as well.

Each room includes a private bathroom with a tub-and-shower combination, a small refrigerator, air conditioning, and free toiletries. Rooms are carpeted and offer flat-screen cable TV. Room types are organized by floor: Deluxe rooms are on the first floor, Superior on the second, and Premier on the third. For families, the 2-queen split layout provides two separate bedrooms. Some rooms have fixed windows that cannot be opened; others have windows that open. The historic building features original metal jail doors and bars in hallways and the breakfast room. Some rooms are small in layout, particularly the bathrooms. Noise may be audible from the street, especially in front-facing rooms. Light sleepers may prefer a room at the front or use a white noise machine. The property has no elevator, and stairs connect all floors.

Breakfast is served daily from 7:00 to 9:00 in a spacious, spotless breakfast room. The spread includes hard-boiled eggs, deli meats, cheese, waffles, toast, bagels, croissants, English muffins, assorted breads, oatmeal, granola, yogurt, fresh fruit, and avocado.
