MOXY EDINBURGH, Edinburgh

Moxy Edinburgh is situated in the Fountainbridge area, just 400 metres from the EICC and less than 1 km from Edinburgh Castle. The city centre is a 5-7 minute walk, and Edinburgh Waverley station is a 15-20 minute walk. Haymarket Station (1 km, 9-minute walk) is the nearest train station and also offers tram connections to Edinburgh Airport. The airport bus stop in Haymarket is a 10-minute walk away, with a 30-minute journey to the airport. Bus stops are located directly outside the hotel, providing easy access to all main sights. The location is in a safe, residential neighbourhood next to a Tesco Express, with many restaurants and bars within a short walk including Loudons Fountainbridge, Cafe Ink, and Zizzi.

Rooms are compact and stylish, featuring a flat-screen TV, desk, tea and coffee making facilities, and a private bathroom with walk-in shower and free toiletries. Soundproofed windows effectively block street noise when closed. However, the design is highly minimalist: there is no wardrobe, safe, mini-fridge, or phone. The only storage is an open rail with a few hangers, meaning you will need to live out of your suitcase. Rooms are cleaned daily (towels changed, bins emptied, bed made), but housekeeping can be inconsistent and may not occur until late afternoon. The beds vary - some find them comfortable, others report them as soft or with a lumpy mattress. The bathroom is functional but small; the accessible shower curtain may cause the floor to get wet. Light sleepers may notice noise from footsteps on the floor above. The air conditioning has been reported as inconsistent, with some rooms failing to cool properly.

Breakfast is a buffet with a wide selection including pastries, cereals, pancakes, breads, beans, potato rostis, vegan sausages, soy/oat milks, and hot items. Gluten-free and vegan options are available. The breakfast area is located behind the reception/bar and can become very crowded and chaotic between approximately 08:30 and 09:30, with queues for the coffee machines and frequent shortages of food, cutlery, and clean tables. Booking an early slot (before 08:30) is strongly advised to avoid the worst of the congestion. The on-site bar and snack bar serve food including a Katsu Curry Chicken, Sri Lankan vegetable curry, and a range of drinks and wine/champagne (additional charge). The rooftop bar (Lochrin) is open 17:00-22:00 Tuesday to Sunday, offering cocktails and views of the city. A free welcome drink (a pre-mixed cocktail) is provided at check-in.

The fitness centre is free to use but due to its size, only one guest or group can use it at a time and a reservation is required. The hotel also features a games room with board games, a photo booth, and live music/performance events. The bar/lounge area downstairs has board games and a relaxed atmosphere. The main social and leisure highlight is the Lochrin rooftop bar and terrace on the 6th floor, offering panoramic city views and cocktails. Outdoor furniture is available on the terrace. There is no pool, sauna, or spa on site.

Wi-Fi is free throughout the property and is generally reliable, though speeds can be slower (around 6 Mbps) on lower floors. The 24-hour front desk offers express check-in/out, private check-in/out, and luggage storage (free, available before check-in and after check-out). An ironing room is available on every floor.
