NATEE HOSTEL, Bangkok

The hostel sits in the heart of Bangkok's Pratunam shopping district. CentralWorld, Siam Paragon, Platinum Fashion Mall, MBK, Siam Square and Big C are all reachable on foot, and Pratunam Market is a few minutes away. BTS Ratchathewi and Ratchaprarop Airport Rail Link station are about 10 minutes' walk; the rail link runs directly to Suvarnabhumi Airport. Don Mueang International Airport is 23 km from the property. Two convenience stores are close by, and although the alley is quiet at night, Bangkok's street traffic can be heavy during the day, making the elevated rail lines the most practical way to get around.

Room options span bunk-bed dorms and private rooms. The deluxe 4-bed dormitory with private bathroom sits on the first floor and costs 400 THB per bed per night; a 5-bed dormitory with private bathroom is on the second floor. A 6-bed dormitory has six beds and is booked as a whole room when groups want exclusive use; a 12-bed dormitory uses shared bathrooms. Private double, triple and family rooms also use shared bathrooms, with family-room bathrooms outside the room; the triple has two beds and the family room contains three beds. All rooms are air-conditioned and include a shower, hairdryer, slippers and work desk; sheets and one towel per bed are provided. Selected dormitory beds have city views, but no room has a balcony. The five-floor building has no lift. Some rooms show wear: mattresses can be worn, bathrooms are compact, and occasional damp, mould or ants have occurred in certain rooms. Anyone with asthma or sensitivity to damp or mould should factor this in. The alley location helps, but dormitory noise is not guaranteed.

Breakfast is a basic spread of toast, cereal, instant coffee, milk and juice, with no pork or other meat, making it Muslim-friendly. The selection changes day to day and is light rather than extensive; free fruit is also available. The hostel has no restaurant, so lunch and dinner are found in the surrounding Pratunam area. Within about 0.5 km are SabX2 Wanton Noodles, My Cafe The Sport Bar, Plum Vietnamese Restaurant and Once Upon a Time at Ruen Jao Khun Ou; Phayathai Kitchen Halal Restaurant and HKN Hongkong Noodle Watergate are around 0.5 km, and Nara Thai Cuisine is about 2 km away.

There is no swimming pool and no spa or wellness centre at the hostel. In-house options for downtime are the shared rooftop terrace with city views, the lounge/TV area and outdoor seating. The surrounding area has numerous massage shops within a short walk, and the major shopping complexes are close enough to explore on foot.

Free Wi-Fi is available throughout, though connectivity can be weaker in some rooms. Daily housekeeping is free; laundry is available for an additional charge. Luggage storage is free on arrival and departure days, with a 50 THB per bag per day charge for longer stays; small lockers hold valuables, and padlocks are not supplied. The building has a shared kitchen, lounge/TV area, tour desk and fax/photocopying. Security includes 24-hour coverage, CCTV, key-card and key access, and smoke alarms; the property is non-smoking throughout with a designated smoking area.
