PENSION DR. GEISSLER, Vienna

The pension occupies a typical Viennese apartment building on Postgasse 14, just steps from Schwedenplatz - a major transport hub served by metro lines U1 and U4, trams 1 and 2, night lines, and the airport bus. St. Stephen's Cathedral is a 10-minute walk, and the Danube Canal with its bars, cafés, and boat trips to Bratislava is 5 minutes away. Many restaurants (Griechenbeisl, Konstantin Filippou, etc.) are within 300 metres. The city centre's main sights, shopping streets, and museums are all reachable on foot within 15-20 minutes. For drivers, the public Coch Garage (€20-€24/day) is a 5-minute walk.

The pension offers a variety of room types: standard single/double rooms with private shower and WC; budget rooms with washbasin in the room and shared WC/shower on the corridor; family rooms with two separate bedrooms and a private bathroom (WC on the corridor in some configurations). Some double rooms have only a shower inside, with WC shared between two rooms. All rooms include a flat-screen TV, desk, telephone, and fan (no air conditioning). Rooms vary in size - some are spacious with city views, others are compact attic rooms with sloped ceilings. Noise can be an issue from the street if windows are open; interior-facing rooms are quieter. Carpets and furniture are traditional and may show wear; daily housekeeping is provided. No rooms have a balcony or mini-fridge (medical items can be stored in the breakfast kitchen).

Breakfast is available from 07:00 to 10:00 in a small dining room on the 8th floor. The buffet includes a selection of fresh bread, ham, cheese, boiled eggs, yogurt, fresh and tinned fruit, cereals, jam, and coffee or tea. The spread is sufficient to start the day, but hot items (e.g. scrambled eggs) are not offered. Seating capacity is limited, so arriving before 09:00 is advisable during peak times. For lunch or dinner, the pension has no restaurant or bar, but dozens of cafés, pubs, and restaurants are within a 5-minute walk. Guests can also order wine or champagne from reception (for an additional charge). Special dietary menus (e.g. gluten-free, lactose-free) can be requested in advance.

Wellness facilities are not available, but the pension provides several leisure options directly from reception. Guests can book a 2-hour Ringstrasse and Hundertwasserhaus tour (€30/person, minimum 2 persons) departing from the front door, or a 1-hour Prater City tour by fiaker (€30/person). The pension also sells Vienna Cards with public transport and museum discounts. The Danube Canal (5-minute walk) has a public pool on a boat and artificial beach bars in summer. Free bicycle storage is available in the inner courtyard. The concierge desk can recommend and arrange tickets for concerts, museum visits, and other attractions.

The pension's reception on the 8th floor is staffed from 06:30 to 22:00; outside these hours, keys are deposited in a safety box and guests can reach staff by ringing the doorbell. Services include free express check-in/out, free luggage storage, tour desk, and concierge. Daily housekeeping is complimentary; laundry and ironing are available for an extra charge. WiFi is free in all areas. Airport shuttle (€16/person one-way, minimum 2 persons, single €32) must be booked at least 3 days in advance with flight details. Parking at the nearby public garage costs €20-€24 per day; the pension provides a reduced-rate ticket. Public transport tickets can be purchased at reception. Pets are allowed free of charge (must bring own bowl/blanket; not allowed in breakfast room). The lift is small and the building entrance has a few steps - guests with mobility issues should note this. The property is non-smoking throughout, with allergy-free rooms available. Safety features include CCTV, key card access, smoke alarms, and a safety deposit box.
