Free on-site parking is a major bonus for car travellers, but once parked, plan to keep the car in the lot as spaces are first-come, first-served and leaving may lose the spot. The location is also practical for appointments at the Eye Institute and other Civic Center medical or government buildings.

Many rooms have laminate flooring rather than carpet, which some find cleaner. Bathrooms in some units have been recently renovated with modern showers and good water pressure. The King Suite provides considerably more space and additional coffee bags. Some rooms show signs of age: walls and tables can have marks, curtains may be dirty, and thin bedspreads occasionally have burns or stains. Road-facing rooms and those near the inner courtyard can be noisy, especially at night, and general sound insulation between rooms is limited. The air conditioning unit can be loud. Room cleaning is offered daily. For longer stays or noise-sensitive sleepers, consider a higher floor and a room away from the street.

Breakfast is not included, but guests receive free coffee at the front desk. The rooms have a microwave, refrigerator, and coffee machine, making it possible to store and prepare simple meals. Several quick-service restaurants are within a 5-minute walk, including a pizza place known for excellent service. For a more substantial breakfast, a well-regarded cafe is less than two blocks away.
