SAND CASTLE RESORT BY PATTON HOSPITALITY, Myrtle Beach

The resort is situated directly on the oceanfront with a private beach access. Myrtle Beach International Airport is only 2 km away, making arrivals and departures straightforward. Myrtle Beach State Park is 4 km to the south, and Broadway at the Beach's shopping and dining complex is 8 km north. Several restaurants are within a short walk, including Compass Rose Restaurant, Scooby's Ice Cream Bar & Grill, Angelo's Steak and Pasta, and E-Noodle, all under 0.5 km. The on-site parking garage allows easy car access to the local attractions, and the location is convenient for those arriving by car. This beachfront position provides uninterrupted ocean views and immediate access to the shore, ideal for beach-focused stays.

Rooms offer ocean views and sliding glass doors to a private balcony. Accommodation types range from standard rooms to suites with separate bedrooms and kitchenettes; some units have Murphy beds instead of pull-out sofas. Beds are reported as comfortable by many, though some mattresses are described as hard. Air conditioning units can be loud but effective, and heating is available. The overall room condition is mixed: some find rooms spacious and clean, while others report significant wear including rusted furniture, stained carpets and bedding, broken fixtures, non-functional appliances, mold, and general dirtiness. Balconies may have peeling paint, rusted railings, or non-locking doors. Kitchenettes are present in some rooms but are not equipped - no dishes, pots, pans, or utensils are provided. The property has a dated feel, and the condition of the room should be inspected on arrival. Upper-floor rooms generally offer better views and quieter surroundings.

The on-site restaurant closed years ago and is not operational. A poolside snack bar and cafe offer drinks and ice cream, but the kitchen is not open for eat-in meals. The bar is open but closes early, and drinks are reported as small and expensive. No breakfast is served. For meals, several restaurants are within a 5-minute walk: Compass Rose Restaurant, Scooby's Ice Cream Bar & Grill, Angelo's Steak and Pasta, and E-Noodle. Broadway at the Beach, 8 km away, offers a wide range of full-service restaurants. Guests planning to cook in-room should note that kitchenettes are not pre-stocked with cooking equipment or utensils.

Parking is available in a garage on-site at no charge; no reservation is needed, though spaces can be tight for oversized vehicles. Luggage storage is available for early arrivals or late check-outs. A self-service laundry is on the premises for guest use. Safety deposit boxes are provided at the front desk. The property has a shared lounge/TV area. The lift serves all floors, though it can be slow or occasionally out of service. The resort is wheelchair accessible. Wi-Fi is free in all areas. Key cards may malfunction and require multiple attempts to unlock doors; the front desk can re-program them. The front desk is staffed 24 hours, but the phone in rooms may not work, so visiting the desk is more reliable for service requests. No daily housekeeping is provided; towels and toilet paper must be requested. Guests requiring kitchen supplies should request them at check-in.
