HOTEL DELLA SIGNORIA, Florence

The hotel sits in the heart of Florence, directly on Piazza della Signoria and a few metres from Ponte Vecchio. The Uffizi Gallery, Palazzo Vecchio, Palazzo Strozzi and the Duomo are all reachable on foot in less than 5 minutes. Santa Maria Novella train station is a 10-minute walk away; Florence airport is about 25-30 minutes by taxi (taxis can stop at the entrance). The area is a ZTL (limited traffic zone), so if you arrive by car you must drive to the hotel to unload, then move the vehicle to a nearby private garage such as Garage delle Terme, which will register your plate to avoid fines. The location is ideal for sightseeing on foot - all major attractions, shops and restaurants are within a few blocks. Being on a lively street, the upper floors and double glazing help reduce street noise.

Breakfast at Hotel della Signoria is an international buffet offered from 07:30 to 10:30 on the rooftop terrace (or in the breakfast room when weather is cool). The buffet includes a range of sweet and savoury options - breads, pastries, cheeses, cold cuts, yogurt, fresh fruit and made-to-order eggs (scrambled, fried). Coffee and cappuccino are prepared to order. Gluten-free options are available on request. The cost is 18€ per person (this may vary; confirm at booking). The terrace provides panoramic views over Florence, making it a pleasant start to the day. The hotel has no restaurant or bar for other meals, but the reception staff can recommend nearby trattorias serving Tuscan cuisine and pizza - many are within a 2-minute walk. Aperitifs can be enjoyed on the terrace in the evening thanks to the bar service. Room service is available for limited hours.

The hotel offers free bicycle rental on request, allowing guests to explore Florence on two wheels. Walking tours and bike tours can be arranged, and temporary art galleries are sometimes featured. Live sport events are broadcast in the shared lounge. There is no fitness centre, spa or swimming pool - those seeking extensive wellness facilities may need to look elsewhere. The 7th-floor panoramic terrace serves as the main leisure space, where breakfast is served and evening drinks can be enjoyed. The terrace offers a stunning view of the city, including Ponte Vecchio and the Duomo. For a more active stay, the bicycle rental is a practical way to cover more ground than on foot.

Hotel della Signoria provides a 24-hour front desk with concierge service, express check-in/out and private check-in/out. Free WiFi covers all areas. Daily housekeeping is included; ironing and laundry can be arranged for an additional charge (laundry is outsourced). The business centre offers fax/photocopying, and a trouser press is available. Safety features include 24-hour security, CCTV, fire extinguishers, smoke alarms and a safety deposit box. Room service is provided, and the shared lounge/TV area is open for relaxation. Cots can be requested subject to availability. No pets are allowed. Parking is not available on site; the nearest private garage is a short walk away and costs around 40€ per 24 hours.
