The area is packed with cafes, restaurants, and shops, though some side streets can feel less safe late at night. For day-to-day exploration, most downtown attractions are reachable on foot; the SkyTrain provides quick access to other parts of the city.

Accommodation ranges from 2-bed dorms to 8-bed mixed dorms, plus female-only dorms and private twin or double rooms. All bathrooms are shared (single-sex and mixed). Each bed comes with a personal locker (bring your own padlock or buy one at reception). Dorm beds lack reading lights and power outlets close to the bed. There are no private baths, no balconies, and no en-suite options. Rooms on the second floor are farther from the bar and tend to be quieter. Windows can be opened, but street noise and late-night music from the pub are often audible. Heating is available; air conditioning is not, so rooms can become stuffy during warm weather. Private rooms are basic - bed, stools, no extra furniture - appropriate for budget travellers who prioritise location over comfort.

The hostel does not serve breakfast, but the ground-floor Cambie Bar & Grill provides a full menu of American cuisine and drinks. All guests receive a 20% discount voucher for food and beverages (conditions apply). A second restaurant, Kofta, is also on site. For those who prefer to cook, the common kitchen is equipped with two fridges, a stove, cooking utensils, and a dining area; lockers are available for storing personal groceries. The immediate Gastown neighbourhood offers numerous dining options within a few blocks - cafes, Korean, Italian, and Middle Eastern restaurants - all easily reached on foot.

The Cambie Hostel is a party-focused property with a bar that hosts live music performances, DJ sets, karaoke, and a happy hour (additional charge) most evenings.
