The Mahjong is situated in a lively, local Kowloon neighbourhood filled with restaurants, convenience stores, and markets. To Kwa Wan MTR station is just 2-5 minutes on foot, and bus A22 stops right outside for a direct 45-minute ride to Hong Kong International Airport (last bus 00:10). Tsim Sha Tsui harbour front and Mong Kok Ladies' Market are a 15-minute drive away, while Central CBD and Lan Kwai Fong are about 20 minutes by road. The area offers an authentic Hong Kong experience with easy access to public transport - MTR, buses, and Uber pickups are all readily available.

Accommodation is in shared dormitories (mixed and female-only), each with spacious 6-bed configurations. Every bed features a privacy curtain, a personal safe large enough for a laptop, a reading light, a power outlet, and air conditioning. Bunk beds are designed to shield sleepers from direct AC airflow. The female-only dorm includes two private bathrooms with showers and toilets inside the room for added convenience. Rooms are cleaned daily and have a no-shoes policy - slippers are provided. The overall atmosphere is clean, modern, and comfortable, with a focus on practical privacy and good sleep quality.

There is no restaurant at The Mahjong, but the shared kitchen is equipped with a fridge, microwave, kettle, and basic cookware for preparing simple meals. A coffee house on site provides hot drinks. The surrounding streets are filled with affordable local restaurants, dai pai dong, and food stalls, many open late. Seven popular eateries (including Forkers, Singapore Restaurant, and Chuk Ka Chong) are within a 0.5 km walk, and Chez Louis is 0.5 km away. The staff post their own neighbourhood recommendations on a board in the lounge, helping you find everything from egg waffles to full dinners.

Free WiFi is available throughout the property, including in dorm rooms. The front desk operates from 9:00 to 23:00; late check-in must be arranged in advance. Luggage storage is free until 11pm on the day of checkout - useful for a last shower before heading to the airport. Laundry service costs HKD 50 for same-day wash, dry, and fold. Daily housekeeping, safety deposit boxes, key card access, CCTV, and 24-hour security are standard. The staff speak excellent English and proactively send pre-arrival WhatsApp messages with detailed transport instructions. SIM card rental is available for HKD 5/day with unlimited data.
