TRAIN LODGE AMSTERDAM, Amsterdam

The hostel sits beside Amsterdam Sloterdijk, a major transport hub with trains, metro, trams, and buses serving all of Amsterdam. Schiphol Airport is 10 km (15 minutes by train), and the city centre (Anne Frank House, Vondelpark) is within a 3-4 km radius. The Westpoort district is a convenient area for city walks and sightseeing by public transport. Several cafés and restaurants (Global Dining, House of Poke) are within a 1 km walk, and a supermarket is inside the station. Street parking is available off-site for €3.01 per hour; the hostel has no affiliated parking facilities. The location is quiet enough at night despite the proximity to the railway.

Every compartment features 3-tier bunks, a sink with cold water, heating and air conditioning, and carpeted floors. The triple compartment is a private original train compartment with an overhead luggage rack; the family compartment combines two triples for 6 people. The quad room (4 beds) also offers garden views. Upper bunks are high and lack safety rails; a ladder is provided. There is a wash basin in each room, but no en-suite facilities. Electrical outlets are located near the floor, and power sockets are limited (approximately 4 per 6-bed car). The compartments are functional for sleeping, but compact - standing space is limited, and large suitcases cannot be opened. Light sleepers may notice noise from adjoining compartments and passing trains, though sound insulation is decent. The top bunks offer more storage space, but the middle and lower bunks have less. A lower bunk can be requested when booking.

The continental breakfast includes bread rolls, croissants, ham, salami, cheese, yogurt, jam, Nutella, peanut butter, hot chocolate, coffee, and tea. It is not a buffet but a served option. The bistro in the reception carriage also offers bar service (beer, wine, soft drinks) and a lounge area with a terrace. There is no full restaurant on-site, but staff can use the microwave and oven to heat guest food upon request. Several restaurants and cafés lie within a 1 km walk of the hostel, including Grand Cafe La Guardia and The Doner Company.

The hostel provides a games room with board games/puzzles for guest use. The outdoor terrace is furnished with garden furniture and a fire pit, creating a social space. Bicycle hire is available for a fee, giving guests an easy way to explore Amsterdam. There is no spa, pool, or gym on the property.

The 24-hour front desk handles check-in/out and can assist with luggage storage, which is available both before check-in and after check-out. Small personal items (laptops, passports) can be held at reception. There are no lockers - guests must keep luggage in their compartment or use the bistro storage area. Daily housekeeping is free. The hostel provides board games and a shared lounge/TV area. Bicycle rental is available for exploring the city. Payment methods accepted: Visa, Maestro, MasterCard. Pets are not allowed.
