The Virginia Hotel sits on Jackson Street in Cape May's Historic District, just half a block from the ocean and the Washington Street pedestrian mall filled with shops, galleries, and casual dining. The beach is a short walk-about 200 yards-with a dedicated hotel area where attendants set up complimentary chairs, towels, and umbrellas. The hotel offers a range of room types in the main 1879 building and across the street in four Victorian cottages: Red, White, Pink, and Gray. Standard guest rooms feature either a queen or king bed with signature plush linens, flat-screen TV, minibar, refrigerator, bathrobes, and individually controlled air conditioning. Standard Queen rooms have showers only (no tub). Premier King rooms are more spacious. The Jackson Room and Virginia Room both offer private balconies overlooking Jackson Street; the Virginia Room is 28 m² and particularly spacious. Cottages include full kitchens or kitchenettes, separate living areas, and private porches. Some rooms and suites face the street and may experience noise from restaurant equipment; upstairs rooms require climbing stairs as there is no elevator. The Turret Suite in the Red Cottage is a unique top-floor option with a kitchenette and private deck. Most rooms do not have coffee makers, but room service coffee is available for a fee. Southern Suite and Gray Cottage have full kitchens. Daily housekeeping and nightly turndown service are provided.

The bar also serves appetizers during happy hour. Outdoor dining is available on the front porch. Breakfast is included in the room rate; the Ebbitt Room is an additional cost. The hotel also offers a winter café menu and in-room dining from the Ebbitt Room's menu. Nearby restaurants include The Mad Batter, Tisha's, and Ugly Mug, all within a 5-minute walk.

Guests can use the seasonal heated outdoor pool at Congress Hall, just across the street, with a pool bar and food service. The Sea Spa at Congress Hall offers ocean-inspired treatments including massages, facials, and body treatments. In-cottage spa treatments are available Monday-Saturday.
