The property fronts the beach, with the sand and surf just steps across the street. The Cape May Historic District, home to the Washington Street Mall's boutiques, cafes, and dining, is a five-minute walk away. Congress Hall, the Sea Spa, and the Blue Pig Tavern are within 0.5 km. Restaurants such as Ocean View Restaurant, La Verandah, Tommy's Folly Coffee Shop, and Sapore Italiano are also about 0.5 km away. Cape May Lighthouse and the Cape May Bird Observatory are 5 km from the property. The area is highly walkable, making a car largely unnecessary once you arrive. For those driving, the Garden State Parkway and Cape May-Lewes Ferry offer direct access. A complimentary Cape Resorts shuttle connects to sister properties and Beach Plum Farm.

The Sandpiper offers 51 one- and two-bedroom condominium suites. The two-bedroom suites include a king bed in the master, a full bed in the second bedroom, and a queen sleeper sofa in the living room, plus two full bathrooms (one with shower, one with tub). Ocean-view and ocean-front suites have balconies with outdoor furniture and sweeping views of the beach and sunsets. All suites come with a full kitchen (full-size refrigerator, stove, oven, microwave, Keurig coffeemaker, cookware, and dishwasher), living room with hardwood floors, individual climate control, Smart TVs in each bedroom and living room, and a washer/dryer. The bedrooms and living areas are completely separate, offering privacy. Some suites have walk-in showers, and the property has an elevator for upper floors. Road-facing units may carry more noise; requesting an interior or ocean-facing suite is recommended for light sleepers. The units feel spacious, recently remodeled, and are well-suited for families and longer stays.

While the Sandpiper itself does not have a restaurant, breakfast may be available as part of select packages at the Blue Pig Tavern at Congress Hall (within 0.5 km). The Blue Pig Tavern serves classic and seasonal farm-to-table fare for breakfast and dinner. The Ebbitt Room at The Virginia offers an award-winning farm-to-table dinner experience. The Brown Room provides craft cocktails and a relaxed lounge atmosphere. Tommy's Folly Coffee Shop offers La Colombe coffee and light bites. Beach Plum Farm's Farm Kitchen serves homespun breakfast and lunch. All meals at these venues can be charged to the Sandpiper room. For those who prefer to cook, each suite's full kitchen is well-equipped for preparing complete meals.

The seasonal outdoor heated pool (open Memorial Day to Columbus Day, weather permitting) features a pool with a view and complimentary loungers, towels, and food/drink service. The gym is the largest on the island, with free weights, cardio machines, strength equipment, and a sauna in each locker room. Yoga classes are held in the Piper Lounge. The Sea Spa at Congress Hall offers ocean-inspired treatments (massage, skincare) and in-suite massage services. A customized 1.5-hour surfing lesson (ages 8+, able to swim) can be booked as a stay enhancement. The complimentary beach service at Congress Hall provides chairs, towels, and umbrellas on the sand, plus a beach menu.
