APA HOTEL SHIBUYA DOGENZAKAUE, Tokyo

The hotel sits on a slight uphill slope from the station-plan for this when walking with heavy luggage. From Shibuya Station, use the Hachiko exit for JR or Exit A0 for the Tokyo Metro. Narita Airport is accessible via a direct Narita Express train (approx. 1.5 hours); Haneda Airport requires a transfer from the Keikyu Line to the JR Yamanote Line (50-60 minutes). No private airport shuttle is available. The area is dense with restaurants, convenience stores (Family Mart and 7-Eleven), and entertainment, while remaining reasonably quiet for a central location. Yoyogi Park, Harajuku, and Omotesando are about 20 minutes on foot.

Rooms are approximately 11 m²-adequate for solo travellers but very tight for two people with suitcases. Storage is available under the bed for luggage. Each room includes an electric kettle with green tea, a fridge, flat-screen TV, yukata robes, slippers, and a clothes iron/trouser press. A humidifier/air-purifier can be borrowed from reception. Room cleanliness has been inconsistent, with some reporting stained carpets, dusty floors, and mould in bathrooms. Noise insulation is not strong: road-facing rooms pick up traffic, voices from hallways carry, and windows often need to be opened for ventilation. The air conditioning can be difficult to adjust precisely. Rooms without functioning A/C have been noted. The hotel has non-smoking rooms, but some rooms have retained a cigarette odour.

Breakfast is a set meal rather than a buffet-options include Komeda Coffee's original morning set (toast, egg, coffee) or two types of Japanese-style breakfast menu. The price is ¥2200 per person, and the meal is simple and limited in portions; additional coffee refills are not included. The on-site Komeda Coffee shop operates for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and also serves as a casual café. The hotel also has a Japanese restaurant (甚三) serving European cuisine. The surrounding area within a few minutes' walk offers a wide variety of dining, from ramen and sushi to grilled meats and convenience stores.

Massage treatments can be arranged through reception at an additional charge, offering a practical way to unwind after a day in the city. There is no swimming pool, spa, or onsen on-site. A coin launderette and a free-use microwave are also available for guest use.
