Santa Barbara's Amtrak station is a seven-minute walk, making car-free arrival straightforward. Several restaurants are within a five-minute stroll, and the waterfront promenade provides a scenic route to downtown. Free on-site parking means a car is optional but convenient for exploring further afield.

Rooms range from classic king and queen rooms to larger Deluxe rooms and freestanding Casitas. Classic rooms include a mini-fridge, microwave, Keurig coffee maker, air conditioning and a private bathroom. Deluxe rooms add a fireplace and two-person tub, with some offering a balcony or veranda. Casitas are self-contained units with a private entrance, a California King bed, fireplace, two-person spa tub, kitchenette and a private patio or balcony. A budget room near the lobby and stairs is available at a reduced rate. The property follows a Spanish-Colonial style with older building fabric; some rooms may show signs of age such as scuffed baseboards, and soundproofing between rooms and floors can be limited. Standard rooms do not have a balcony. Rooms in the main building have either carpet or laminate flooring.

Breakfast is made to order from a rotating menu that includes options such as crepes, huevos rancheros, quiche, yogurt with homemade granola, and a daily special. A vegetarian and gluten-free option is always available upon request. Smoothies, espresso, lattes and cappuccinos are included, with mimosas or Bloody Marys available for an additional charge. Breakfast can be taken in the dining room, on the outdoor patio, or delivered to your room. There is no on-site restaurant for other meals, but the neighbourhood offers many dining choices within a five- to ten-minute walk.
