The residence is located approximately 6 km from Edinburgh city centre. Public transport is highly efficient: multiple bus routes (8, 9, 17) stop directly outside the building, providing a 20-minute journey to the Royal Mile, Waverley station, and the airport. A large Morrisons supermarket and a Lidl are within a 10-minute walk. The coastal promenade and beach are also a 5-minute walk away, offering a pleasant route for walks or runs. The area is quieter than the central districts, and while public transport is frequent, a car is not required for the stay.

Rooms are basic but functional, part of a former student residence. Each room features a private en-suite bathroom (small, without a window), a work desk, a dining table, a wardrobe, carpeted floors, and a small double bed. Standard en-suite rooms have a 120 cm x 190 cm bed; studio rooms offer a slightly larger 137 cm x 190 cm bed. A shared kitchen and living/dining area is shared with up to 5 rooms. Practical items such as a microwave, toaster, oven, stovetop, refrigerator, and tea/coffee making facilities are provided. The rooms lack a TV, a bin, a hairdryer, and air conditioning. Windows can only open a small crack, making the rooms warm in summer. Internal sound insulation is limited - doors from neighbouring rooms can be heard. The overall experience is suited to travellers wanting a simple, affordable base for sleeping and self-catering rather than a comfortable, relaxing hotel experience.

The residence has no pool, spa, gym, or leisure amenities. The shared lounge/TV area provides a basic space for relaxation. For outdoor recreation, the nearby coast and promenade offer a pleasant walking and jogging route. The location is convenient for reaching the city's attractions by bus, but leisure activities are off-site.

The reception is staffed around the clock, allowing late and early check-in. Free WiFi is available in all areas. Laundry facilities are present on site, requiring a card purchase (£3) and additional usage charges. The shared kitchen area includes a dining table and living space. No parking is provided on site; the adjacent Morrisons car park allows parking at £2.50 per day via the RingGo or Paybyphone apps. Luggage storage is not available at the property, but external services exist in the city centre. Security key cards are used for building and room access. Only Visa and MasterCard are accepted for payment. The straightforward check-in and check-out process involves leaving the key in a drop box.
