Hotel Details

Location

Positioned directly opposite Haymarket Rail Station, with tram and bus stops at the hotel entrance, providing direct connections to the airport and city centre.
The hotel sits in a central West End location, a 15-minute walk from Edinburgh Castle, Princes Street, and the Edinburgh International Conference Centre. Murrayfield Stadium is 2 km away, and Edinburgh Zoo is an 8-minute drive. The area is well-served by public transport; the tram from the airport stops outside the hotel, and buses run frequently into the city centre. Within a 0.5 km radius are numerous restaurants and cafés, including Station Takeaway, The Club Sandwich, and Los Amigos. The Pentland Hills Regional Park is less than a 20-minute drive for those with a car.

Accommodation

All rooms are compact and modern with wooden floors, air conditioning, private bathroom with walk-in shower, and a flat-screen TV with streaming services.
Rooms are designed for efficiency, with a double or two single beds, parquet flooring, a hairdryer, and free toiletries. Accommodation is best suited for short stays or solo travellers, as many rooms are narrow with limited space for luggage. Some rooms have no windows, which can affect ventilation and temperature; a room with a window offers better airflow and natural light. Road-facing rooms may experience some noise from traffic and tram lines, while rooms on upper floors are quieter. The lack of in-room tea/coffee facilities is compensated by complimentary drinks available at reception.

Dining

Breakfast is not included in room rates; a grab-and-go option is available at the hotel, and a full breakfast buffet is served at the adjacent Platform 5 pub from 07:00 to 10:00.
Breakfast costs £12 and can be booked separately. The pub next door offers a continental and full Scottish/English buffet with vegetarian and gluten-free options. On-site, a snack bar and coffee shop serve light bites, fruits, and wine/champagne at an additional charge. The reception area also provides free tea and coffee for guests. For dining, the surrounding area includes numerous restaurants within a short walk, such as La Bruschetta, Omar Khayyam Indian Restaurant, and Nomad Cafe.

Leisure

The hotel does not have a spa, swimming pool, or wellness centre.
Leisure facilities on site are limited to a bar/lounge area and a shared TV lounge. The hotel's location provides easy access to outdoor activities: Edinburgh Zoo is an 8-minute drive, and the Pentland Hills Regional Park is less than 20 minutes away by car. For events, Murrayfield Stadium is 2 km from the property.

Top Strategic Tips

  • 01

Request a room with a window when booking, as some rooms have no windows and limited ventilation.

  • 02

Use the tram stop directly outside the hotel for direct airport and city-centre access.

  • 03

Factor in the lack of parking; car-free travel via rail, tram, or bus is recommended.

  • 04

Book breakfast separately if you prefer a fuller meal; the hotel offers a grab-and-go option, and the adjacent pub serves a Scottish buffet until 10:00.
