The hostel overlooks Kelvingrove Park and sits within a short walk of Kelvingrove Art Gallery & Museum, the University of Glasgow, and the Botanic Gardens. The SSE Hydro and SEC are both around 20 minutes on foot, making the location suitable for event-goers. Dozens of cafes, restaurants, pubs, and shops line nearby streets within 0.5 km. Buses to the city centre (routes 3, 4, 4A) stop a 5-minute walk away, and the nearest subway station is about 10 minutes on foot. The neighbourhood is safe, leafy, and quiet, though the hill leading up to the building may be noticeable. Taxis to Central Station cost roughly £10-£15.

Room options include private en-suite rooms sleeping 1-6 people, shared dorms (4-8 beds, including female-only dorms), and a self-contained apartment for up to 6. Each dorm bed has a private locker, but electrical outlets near beds are limited-some rooms have only one socket by the door, so a multi-plug or charging earlier is wise. Beds are narrow single-width with medium comfort mattresses; top bunks lack privacy curtains and individual reading lights. The en-suite bathrooms typically have a shower, toilet, and sink, but space is compact and shower controls can be basic (temperature may fluctuate in some units). No body wash, shampoo, or hairdryer are provided in the rooms (hairdryers can be borrowed from reception). Some rooms have park views. A heating system operates in cooler months. Noise between rooms can be noticeable due to the building's age, especially from plumbing. Stairs are required for all upper-floor rooms.

The hostel offers a 'wee breakfast' served 7:30-10:00 daily for £5, consisting of toast, preserves, cereal, yoghurt, tea, and coffee. There is no hot food option. The fully equipped self-catering kitchen is available 24 hours for cooking and includes a kettle, pans, utensils, and shared fridges for storing personal food. Complimentary tea and coffee are offered at the reception area throughout the day. Several restaurants, cafes, and bars are within a 5-minute walk, including An Clachan, Dram, and El Perro Negro Woodlands.
