Situated along the Amstel river in an 18th-century canal house, the hotel is a 20-minute walk from Amsterdam Central Station and within easy reach of Artis Zoo and the Hortus Botanicus (both a 10-minute walk). The immediate area is quiet but central, with the vibrant city centre a 15-minute stroll away. The Waterlooplein metro stop is only 400 metres from the door, providing direct connections across the city. For those arriving by car, nearby public parking costs €55 per day, but the metro offers a cost-effective alternative from the airport via a €6 train to Central Station.

The hotel has 5 floors without a lift, so rooms on higher floors require climbing steep, narrow stairs. Room sizes vary: standard doubles are cosy, while superior rooms and those on lower floors offer more space. All bathrooms are private but can be very compact. Walls are thin, and noise from adjacent rooms and corridors is common - earplugs are useful. Most rooms include an electric kettle, and some have a dressing area. Daily housekeeping and towel changes are provided. A few rooms are on the 5th floor where accessibility is most challenging; requesting a lower floor in advance is strongly recommended.

The hotel does not have a restaurant or breakfast facilities. A vending machine in the lobby provides beverages and light snacks. However, the surrounding area is rich with cafés, bakeries, and restaurants within a few minutes' walk, including options along the Amstel and near Waterlooplein. For a fuller meal, the nearby Eetcafe de Magere Brug and Marcello's Delicatessen are popular choices just 0.5 km away.
