KOCKS HOTEL GARNI, Hamburg

The hotel sits directly between the airport and the U1 underground line, making it efficient for both flight connections and city exploration. Walking to Terminal 1 takes about 10 minutes via a pedestrian route - follow the footbridge and keep left after leaving the airport. Bus line 292 stops opposite the hotel and reaches the terminal in 3 minutes. The U1 station provides a direct link to Hamburg's main train station and central districts. Several restaurants, including Italian, sushi, and vegan options, are within 1 km. For drivers, the on-site parking is free and practical, though spaces are limited and cannot be reserved.

Room sizes vary; some are described as compact, while others are spacious. Bathrooms are functional but can be small, especially in attic rooms. Noise is a notable factor - rooms facing the main road can be loud with the window open, and there is no air conditioning, which makes warm nights uncomfortable without opening the window. Soundproofing is effective when windows are closed, so light sleepers should request a room away from the street. The hotel has no lift, so ground-floor rooms are advisable for those with mobility concerns. Some rooms have been renovated, but others still show dated decor and furnishings. Amenities include a hairdryer, ironing facilities, heating, and an alarm clock. No tea/coffee-making facilities or mini-fridges are provided.

Breakfast is served early from 04:00, ideal for travellers with early flights, and costs €12 per person. The buffet is described as satisfying and includes bread, rolls, cold cuts, cheese, jams, juice, and good coffee. For those preferring a lighter or later option, several restaurants are within a 5-10 minute walk - including Italian, sushi, and a local pub with a beer garden. The hotel does not have a restaurant for lunch or dinner, but packed lunches can be arranged. Free water is available in the breakfast room.

The property does not offer a spa, swimming pool, or fitness centre. Leisure options are limited to the immediate area - the airport, local restaurants, and public transport connections to central Hamburg. The hotel is well suited as a practical base for airport transit or city exploration, rather than for on-site recreation.

The hotel provides free Wi-Fi throughout the property and a 24-hour reception for flexible check-in. A paid airport shuttle runs from 05:00 and costs €5 per room per trip; it can be booked after arrival. Free private parking is available on site but cannot be reserved in advance - spaces fill quickly. Luggage storage is offered free of charge, useful for early arrivals or late departures. Laundry and ironing services are available for an additional fee. The hotel has electric vehicle charging stations. Payment is accepted via American Express, Visa, Maestro, EC-Card, and MasterCard. Pets are not allowed.
