MAELARDROTTNINGEN YACHT HOTEL, Stockholm

The hotel is permanently moored on Riddarholmen, placing you right next to Stockholm's Old Town and within an easy stroll of major attractions, shops and restaurants. The metro station Gamla Stan is about 2 minutes on foot, and a short ride on the subway from Central Station brings you directly. For airport arrivals, take the Arlanda Express or Flygbussarna to Central Station, then walk 10-15 minutes or take the metro one stop. The area is pedestrian-friendly but has cobblestones, so wheeled luggage can be awkward. The location is exceptionally central yet quiet, with direct views over the water towards City Hall. A handful of restaurants, bars and cafés are within a 5-minute walk.

All cabins feature a private bathroom with shower, flat-screen TV, work desk, heating and free Wi-Fi. The smallest standard cabins (6-8 m2) have a 90 cm bunk bed and are best suited for solo travellers or short stays; a few include a 140 cm lower bunk for two. Larger options include the Captain's Cabin (13 m2, double bed plus extra bed) and the Chart Room (14 m2, with a pentry and fridge). Porthole windows are present in every cabin but many do not open, which can make rooms feel warm and stuffy - a fan is provided. Sound insulation between cabins is limited. Sea-view cabins face the water and feel brighter, while dock-side cabins overlook the gangway. Some upper-level cabins have balconies or terraces. The yacht interior is vintage with carpeting and nautical decor; some areas show wear.

The sauna can be reserved at reception and provides a relaxing experience with views of the waterfront. The rooftop deck and sun terrace offer lounging areas with panoramic views of Stockholm's skyline and harbour. There are no fitness facilities, swimming pool or spa treatments on site.

The 24/7 reception can assist with late check-in, early check-out, luggage storage and booking the sauna. Luggage can be left before check-in and after check-out at no charge. Laundry services are available for an additional fee. A water station with still and sparkling water is free for guests. The property has a small lift for accessing different deck levels, but navigating stairs and the angled gangway can be challenging for those with mobility issues. Payment is accepted via major credit cards including American Express, Visa and MasterCard.
