MOTEL ONE PARIS-PORTE DOREE, Paris

The hotel sits on the edge of the périphérique ring road, yet the immediate neighbourhood is quiet and safe. Porte Dorée metro station (Line8) is about 400m away, providing a direct connection to Opéra Bastille (4km), Place de la République (5.4km), Notre Dame (6km), Louvre (6km), and Pompidou Centre (6km). The Eiffel Tower is roughly 30minutes by metro. Gare du Nord (Eurostar stop) is approximately 30minutes away via metro (Line8 to Bastille, then Line5). From CDG airport, take RERB to Cité Universitaire, then tramT3A to Porte Dorée station - the hotel is 500m from the stop. Orly Airport is 12km away. The area is well served by buses, trams, and Ubers (about €15-25 to the centre). Across the road lies the huge Bois de Vincennes park with lakes, jogging trails, a pagoda, and the Parc Floral botanical garden. Dozens of restaurants, cafés, supermarkets, and shops are within walking distance.

All rooms feature a private bathroom with shower, hairdryer, and free toiletries; the shower is spacious and the water pressure is generally good. The room size is typical for Paris - adequate for one or two people, but limited space for opening large suitcases. Bed options: Queen (one 1.60m mattress) or King (two 0.90m mattresses pushed together). Some rooms offer a view of the park lake or, from high floors on the park side, even a partial Eiffel Tower view. Windows can be opened but road-facing rooms may experience traffic noise. Soundproofing is effective with windows closed. The thermostat can be awkward to adjust, and the central AC/heating system may keep rooms warmer than desired outside summer months - requesting a room on a cooler side of the building or at a higher floor with better airflow is a practical workaround. No kettle, minibar, telephone, iron, or cupboard in the room; a safe and a few hanging hooks are provided. The carpet is clean, the bedding is comfortable, and the design is modern with street-art motifs. Daily housekeeping is limited to making the bed and replacing towels; for sheet or deep cleaning changes an explicit request is required.

Breakfast is served daily from 06:30 to 10:30 on weekdays and until 11:00 on weekends/holidays. The buffet includes breads, pastries, cheese, cold meats, cereals, fresh fruit, fruit salad, yoghurt, soya milk, vegan cakes, and hot drinks. Gluten-free products are available on request. The quality is described as comprehensive and fresh, though hot items (scrambled eggs, bacon) are not offered - it is a continental-style spread. For those who prefer a heartier meal, several cafés and restaurants are within a 5-minute walk. The on-site bar serves cocktails, wine, beer, and soft drinks in a stylish salon-style setting with armchairs, and offers a small snack bar including wine/champagne and light bites. No food delivery from outside is allowed in the hotel. Beverages must be paid for at the bar - there is no room charging option.

The hotel has a small garden and terrace for relaxing. For more active recreation, the park across the road provides row-boat rental on Lac Daumesnil and Lac de Minimes, jogging and cycling trails, the Parc Floral botanical garden, regular free music events (Paris Jazz Festival in June/July, Classique au Vert in August/September), an organic farm with animals, and the International Buddhist Institute with the largest Buddha statue in Europe. The neighbourhood also has a local cinema and the Immigration Museum next door. Within a few minutes' walk you can reach an equestrian centre and a zoo.
