NOVA HOTEL, Amsterdam

The hotel occupies five historic buildings directly behind Dam Square. Kalverstraat, the famous shopping street, is one block away, and the flower markets are within a few minutes' walk. The Paleisstraat tram stop (lines 2, 4, 12, 14) is 50 yards from the hotel, connecting to Central Station in about 5 minutes. The Red Light District (De Wallen) is a 15-minute walk. A small garden area with benches is in front of the building, and a supermarket is within 5 minutes on foot.

Rooms are equipped with a private bathroom, hairdryer, flat-screen TV with Netflix, safe, and a refrigerator. Most rooms have 3 or 4 beds, making them practical for families or small groups. Double beds consist of two single mattresses with separate quilts. Rooms have a clothes rail and two shelves but no closed closets or drawers. Windows are single-glazed; road-facing rooms can be noisy from trams and street activity, while courtyard-facing rooms are quieter. Fans are provided but there is no air conditioning. Some rooms are located on lower floors with limited daylight or in a basement. The hotel is a maze of corridors and steps, and room numbers may not be on the same floor. Requesting a quiet room and confirming room location at check-in is recommended.

Breakfast is a buffet served from 07:00 to 10:30, costing €16 per person. It includes a range of breads, pastries, cold cuts, yoghurt, cereals, boiled eggs, scrambled eggs, bacon, and hot drinks. During periods of restriction, breakfast may be served as a takeaway bag or delivered to the room. There is a vending machine for drinks and snacks, and a coffee house on site. The hotel has no restaurant or bar.

Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the hotel. The 24-hour front desk offers luggage storage, private check-in/check-out, and a tour desk. Daily housekeeping is included. Bicycle rental is available for an additional charge. Safety features include 24-hour security, CCTV, key card access, smoke alarms, and a safe in each room.
