PETIT PALACE ARENAL, Madrid

The hotel is set on the pedestrian-only Calle Arenal, directly linking Puerta del Sol to the Royal Theatre and Plaza de la Ópera. The Royal Palace, Plaza Mayor, and Mercado de San Miguel are within a five-minute walk, while Gran Vía, La Latina, and the Barrio de las Letras are a short stroll further. Sol and Opera metro stations (lines 1, 2, 3, and Ópera) are a two-minute walk, making Atocha train station and Barajas Airport reachable in about 25-30 minutes by Metro (a taxi from the airport costs around 30 EUR). Taxis can drop passengers off at nearby Plaza Celenque, one minute away; for departures, a taxi rank is a 2-3 minute walk from the hotel. A wide selection of bars, tapas bars, cafés, and churrerías (including the famous San Ginés) surround the hotel.

The property offers five room types: Small Double (10 m2, double bed, often with inner courtyard views), Double (12 m2, with twin or queen bed, minibar), Triple (12 m2, three single beds, exterior views), Quadruple (15 m2, double or twin beds plus bunk beds, minibar, air conditioning), and Quadruple Superior (20 m2, double bed plus bunk bed, street views, sofa, kettle). All rooms include free Wi-Fi, satellite TV, a safe, hairdryer, eco-friendly toiletries, and complimentary water on arrival. The superior rooms feature a kettle with tea. Some room layouts can be tight: standard doubles are 12 m2 and some interior-facing rooms are described as dark. Road-facing rooms are generally quiet due to soundproofing. Standard doubles feature a desk. No connected rooms are available, but triple and quadruple configurations suit families. The building retains original French windows and a marble reception, with contemporary décor in rooms.

The hotel does not have a spa, swimming pool, or gym. For leisure, free bicycle rental is available at the 24-hour reception (subject to availability), allowing use of the city's 60 km cycling ring and car-free routes through the historic centre. All major attractions-Royal Palace, Plaza Mayor, Gran Vía, museums, and theatres-are within walking distance.

The hotel offers free high-speed Wi-Fi throughout and a portable MiFi device for internet on the go. The 24-hour reception provides luggage storage (including after check-out for same-day departures; longer storage is not available, but lockers exist nearby). Laundry and dry cleaning are available with same-day return if handed in by 10:00. Other services include bicycle rental, daily housekeeping, concierge, tour desk, and safety deposit boxes (free, laptop-sized). Air conditioning and heating are central-controlled; the system provides temperature regulation rather than full cooling. The building has a lift but it is small and can be slow. Facilities for disabled guests are available, and the property is fully non-smoking. Accepted payment methods include American Express, Visa, Diners Club, and MasterCard.
