PRATER CITY HOSTEL, Vienna

Praterstern metro and train station is directly opposite, giving quick access to the city centre (2 km to St. Stephen's Cathedral, about a 30-minute walk) and a direct rail connection to Vienna International Airport (19 km). The Prater amusement park is 600 metres away, and the Kunst Haus Wien museum is less than 1 km. Nearby supermarkets, restaurants, and a one-euro store are within a three-minute walk. The Billa supermarket at the station is open until 22:00. While the location is well connected by public transport, the centre is a pleasant 30-minute walk.

Each room contains separate single beds, not bunks, which is unusual for a hostel and offers more comfort. Rooms have large windows; those facing the main road can be noisy when open for ventilation - earplugs are advisable. There are no curtains or barriers between beds, so privacy is minimal. Rooms may have only fans, no air conditioning. Electrical sockets are near the room entrance rather than beside each bed, so a long charging cable is useful. Storage is limited - a small wardrobe is provided, and lockers are available for a fee. Rooms are cleaned daily.

Breakfast is offered at 10 EUR per person and includes à la carte dishes with vegetarian and vegan choices. The shared kitchen is fully equipped with a fridge, stove, dishes, utensils, and complimentary coffee, tea, sugar, and sometimes light snacks. There is also a dining table. Many supermarkets and restaurants are within a three-minute walk. The surrounding area offers plenty of dining variety, including cafes, noodle bars, and a patisserie, all within 500 metres.

Leisure options are centred on the adjacent Prater park (600 m), which includes the famous Vienna Prater amusement park, open green spaces, and walking paths. The hostel itself is a social environment with a shared living room and kitchen, where travellers and staff often interact. There are no on-site wellness facilities.

WiFi is free in all areas and reported to be strong. The shared kitchen is well equipped and includes free tea, coffee, and basic snacks. Two bathrooms and two toilets are available (some reports of occasional cleanliness issues with drains). The hostel offers a washing machine free of charge, and an iron is available. Staff are known for being very helpful, offering recommendations, and allowing early check-in or late check-out when possible. Luggage storage is available and lockers can be rented for a small fee.
