Santa Barbara's main dining and shopping corridor is a short stroll away, with numerous restaurants, bars, and theaters within a few blocks. The Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History is less than 3 km away, and UC Santa Barbara is a 15-minute drive. The Santa Barbara Airport is 15 km from the property, and the train station is approximately 2 km straight down State Street. The free bikes make it easy to reach the waterfront and explore the Funk Zone, while the property's position at the quieter end of State Street still provides easy car access to the beach and pier.

Rooms vary in size and layout; some are compact and feel sparse, while others are spacious. Noise can carry between rooms and from the street through older louvered windows, which may not close completely. Upper-floor rooms can reduce noise from upstairs foot traffic. Some rooms are ground-floor and may face the outdoor walkway, offering less privacy. Toiletry dispensers are provided, but the shower heads may be fixed and water pressure inconsistent. A microwave is available on request.

The Presidio does not serve breakfast or any other meals, and there is no restaurant, bar, or room service. However, the Upper State Street location places guests within a few minutes' walk of many dining options, including Cantwell's Market & Deli (0.5 km), Carlitos Cafe y Cantina (0.5 km), Opal Restaurant and Bar (0.5 km), and several other cafes and bakeries. A drive or bike ride to the waterfront also opens up many more choices. Guests planning early morning departures should note that local cafes may open after 7 AM.

The hotel provides complimentary bicycles for exploring Santa Barbara, a popular way to reach the waterfront and downtown. The outdoor sundeck on the second floor is furnished with sunbathing chairs and heaters for cooler evenings, offering a pleasant spot to relax.
