The Yankee Inn is located on a busy highway, and navigating the exit can require patience, especially during peak times. The location is ideal for exploring the Berkshires: Tanglewood is a short drive away, as are the Norman Rockwell Museum (20 minutes) and Edith Wharton's The Mount (10 minutes). Downtown Lenox is five minutes by car. A grocery store and several restaurants are within walking distance. Having a car is essential for getting around; public transport is not practical.

The Main Building has a more modern feel with elevator access, private balconies or patios, and rooms including standard kings, mountain-view rooms, and accessible units. Premium rooms, called Fire Spa or Superior, feature king canopy beds, gas fireplaces, and two-person Jacuzzi tubs. Some of these rooms have patios with Adirondack chairs. The South Building is a motel-style section with smaller rooms accessed via exterior corridors; it has no elevator. Rooms here are more economical and some have hardwood floors. All rooms include a mini-fridge, microwave, coffee maker, and private bathroom. Room quality varies: some units have been recently renovated with modern finishes, while others have older furniture, peeling wallpaper, and worn mattresses. Noise can be an issue in the South Building, particularly from the highway or footsteps on the wooden second-floor ceiling. Rooms in the Main Building are generally quieter and better insulated. If a firm bed is preferred, some may find the mattresses comfortable; others have found them overly soft or lumpy.

Breakfast is included in the room rate and is available from 6:00 AM to 10:00 AM in the second-floor breakfast room. The weekday buffet typically offers cereals, pastries, fruit, yogurt, and hot items like eggs and sausage. On weekends, a cook prepares omelets to order. The dining room can become crowded, and during peak times seating may be limited. Many restaurants are a short drive away, including Italian and casual options recommended by the front desk. The hotel has a small bar open Friday and Saturday evenings.

The indoor pool and hot tub are open daily from 8:00 AM to 10:00 PM and offer a relaxing option regardless of weather. The outdoor pool is open during summer, weather permitting, and is heated. Both pools supply towels and have lounge chairs. The hot tub is a popular spot, and on busy evenings it may be occupied for extended periods. The fitness room is small but functional. On-site leisure is limited to these facilities; there is no spa. The hotel provides a curated guide to local hiking trails, all within a short drive.

Wi-Fi is available throughout the property and is free of charge. Parking is free and ample, with no reservation needed. The 24-hour front desk staff can provide restaurant recommendations and local activity information. A business center and two meeting rooms are available (meeting/banquet facilities at an additional cost). Daily housekeeping is available; cleaning is provided if the front desk is notified before leaving. The Main Building is ADA-compliant with an elevator and accessible rooms. The hotel does not offer luggage storage or airport shuttle service. Laundry is not available on site, but a 24-hour laundromat is located directly across the street. A vending machine with drinks and snacks is available in the lobby.
