HOTEL WASHINGTON, Amsterdam

The hotel is on a tree-lined street in Amsterdam's museum district. Tram stops are within two blocks, connecting to Leidseplein in 10 minutes and Amsterdam Central Station in about 5 minutes via metro. The famous Albert Cuyp market is around the corner, and the Kalverstraat shopping area is 2 km away. Numerous restaurants and bakeries-including Soup en Zo, Corner Bakery, and Restaurant Le Garage-are within 300-500 m. While the area is walkable and well-served by public transport, driving and parking are expensive and limited. Free street parking is available only on Sundays.

Room types include single, double/twin (one double or two singles), triple (three singles), and quadruple (four singles or two rooms with two beds each). Many rooms are in the basement or on the fourth floor. Basement rooms can suffer from noise from the kitchen and stairs, poor ventilation, and occasional sewage odor. Top-floor attic rooms can become very hot in summer-no air conditioning is available. Stairs are steep and narrow; no elevator. Private bathrooms include a shower or bathtub; some rooms have shared facilities that are kept clean. Rooms are basic: no kettle, no minibar, no in-room safe (a central safe is available at reception). Noise transmission through thin floors is common.

Breakfast includes bread, pastries, cold cuts, cheese, yogurt, fruit, and hot drinks. It is paid and not included in the room rate. The hotel has vending machines for drinks and snacks but no restaurant, bar, or room service. The surrounding streets offer a wide range of eateries within a few minutes' walk, from quick bakeries to sit-down restaurants, giving plenty of alternatives for lunch and dinner.

There is no spa, swimming pool, or fitness centre. The hotel's small backyard garden provides a quiet spot for relaxing. Bicycle hire is available directly at the hotel, making it easy to explore Amsterdam at your own pace. The location is ideal for walking to museums, parks, and the Albert Cuyp market. The neighbourhood itself is quiet and residential, with easy access to the vibrant city centre via tram.

Wi-Fi is free in all areas. Luggage can be stored free of charge until the same night; after that, a fee of €20 per bag per day applies. An airport shuttle can be arranged for an additional fee (shuttle bus approx. €18.50 one way, taxi approx. €35). The hotel also offers paid laundry/dry cleaning, a vending machine for drinks and snacks, and fax/photocopying for a charge. Parking is at a nearby public car park (€54/day, no reservation). No pets. No smoking. Check-in starts at 14:00; early arrival luggage drop-off is welcome. The reception is staffed 24 hours. Ground-floor rooms are available on request but there is no elevator.
