The hostel is situated in a residential area, about 3 km (4 km to Dam Square) from Amsterdam's historic centre. The Zeeburgerdijk tram stop is a one-minute walk and offers direct service to Central Station and the main attractions - expect 15-20 minutes travel time. For cyclists, the centre is reachable in less than 15 minutes; bike rental is available across the road. The area has several local cafés, bars and supermarkets within a few hundred metres. The nearest train station (Muiderpoort) is about 10 minutes on foot, with direct connections to Sloterdijk and Central Station. A 40-minute walk along scenic routes is also possible for those who enjoy walking.

Room types range from private doubles up to 6-bed dorms and family rooms with private bathroom. Many rooms are spacious with high ceilings and large windows, though some far-corner rooms may have poor natural light and inadequate artificial lighting. The majority of rooms include in-room lockers (bring your own padlock; also sold at reception for €4). Private rooms can be locked for security. Standard rooms provide bed linen but no towels - comfort rooms include towels, soap and shampoo. A few rooms have a separate shower and toilet, a sink in the room, and separate mirror space. Some rooms have a mezzanine layout offering privacy. Rooms are generally basic - no television, wardrobe, or telephone; limited hanging hooks. Bedding may require self-making on arrival and stripping on departure. Heating is available but radiators may be set low or windows can be draughty; extra blankets are available from reception. No air conditioning exists, and windows may only open at the top, limiting ventilation. Noise can be a factor: thin walls, squeaky beds, and external noise from the nearby terrace or street-facing rooms - road-facing upper floors or rooms near common areas are less suitable for light sleepers. Room servicing is limited to rubbish removal and toilet paper replenishment; floors are not cleaned daily. Some rooms have been reported with damp, mould or odour issues - especially bathrooms. Smoking odour can drift into some rooms via ventilation. The building has a lift and wheelchair-accessible rooms.

Breakfast is a continental buffet with bread, pastries, cereal, hot drinks and juice - priced at €10. It also includes vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options. The on-site bar-brasserie and restaurant (The 5th) offer quick bites, drinks, and themed dinners that change daily. A packed lunch service is available (surcharge). A vending machine with snacks is located near reception. Several independent restaurants are within a short walk, including Italian, Turkish and hummus spots. No guest kitchen is available. The summer terrace provides outdoor seating.

The hostel offers a range of free leisure activities: billiards, table football, movie nights, live music/performance, live sport events, and walking tours. Evening entertainment (e.g. pub crawls at an additional charge, board games, game nights) is common in the large lobby area. There is a games room and a playground for children. Cycling is a popular option - bike rental is available across the road and secure bike storage is provided in a garage. The summer terrace is usable for relaxation. No swimming pool, spa or gym are present.

Free Wi-Fi is available in all areas. The 24-hour front desk offers luggage storage (free of charge before check-in and after check-out), safety deposit box (surcharge), tour desk, and private check-in/out. A laundry room with coin-operated machines is on site. Business facilities (fax/photocopying, meeting/banquet rooms) are available for an additional charge. The hostel is cashless: only cards accepted. Cleaning services: daily housekeeping (rubbish removal, toilet paper) is free; laundry service is extra.
