ALBERGUE REVOLUTUM HOSTEL, Salamanca

The hostel sits in the heart of the old town, a few steps from the University of Salamanca and the Cathedral. All major sights are within a five-minute walk. The bus and train stations are about a 15-minute walk away, with direct bus connections every few minutes. Driving in is restricted for non-electric vehicles; private parking is available at Colón, Santa Eulalia or Reyes de España parking lots, all a short walk from the hostel. The immediate area is pedestrian-friendly and packed with restaurants, bars and shops.

Rooms vary widely in size and layout. Many private rooms are compact and basic, sometimes containing a mix of single beds and bunk beds rather than a double bed, depending on availability. Dormitories feel tight with minimal circulation space, especially when the room holds five or six people. Some rooms have a window onto the street (which can be noisy) or onto a quieter interior. A welcome bag with juice and a pastry is delivered each evening, and a free towel is provided in some room types. Extra single beds are added to some rooms, blocking outlets and reducing floor space - these fifth beds lack their own light and power point. Rooms are not supplied with sheets or towels.

The breakfast buffet runs from 08:30 to 11:00 and offers bread for toasting, jam, butter, cheese, tomato, cereal, fresh fruit, orange juice, coffee, tea and milk. The spread is simple and portions can run out quickly if the dining area is busy. For early departures, a breakfast bag can sometimes be pre-arranged. The restaurant El Marmitón del Revolutum serves Italian, Mediterranean, Spanish and international dishes, accommodating vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and dairy-free diets. The attached bar is popular through the evening and can produce noise that carries into the rooms above.

The hostel does not offer a swimming pool, spa or wellness centre. Leisure options are limited to the on-site bar and restaurant, the shared lounge/TV area and the sun terrace. A small welcome bag with a drink and snack is left in each room.

Wi-Fi is free in all areas. Luggage storage is free, allowing guests to explore before check-in or after check-out. Laundry is washed and returned within a few hours for €6. There is a lift (elevator) to all floors. The shared kitchen includes a stove, microwave, toaster, kettle and fridge. Reception offers a tour desk and concierge service, but is not open 24 hours (closes at 01:30, reopens at 10:00). Security features include CCTV, key card access, 24-hour security, lockers and a free safety deposit box. No parking is available on site.
