While the immediate area can have some transient activity near the park across the street, the neighborhood is generally safe and well-lit. The location is ideal for exploring Santa Barbara without a car, with many restaurants (including Rudy's, Sambo's, JSB Cafe) within 0.5 km. Free parking on site allows car users to leave the vehicle for the duration of the stay.

Rooms are clean and recently renovated with modern decor, comfortable beds, and quality bedding. However, soundproofing between rooms and from hallways is limited, and doors lacking soft-close mechanisms can be noisy. Road-facing rooms may be less quiet. First-floor rooms may have noise from the parking lot. Bathrooms are compact; some showers lack a lip, causing water to spread on the floor. Balcony rooms (king) offer mountain views but may overlook the parking area. No rollaway beds or sofa sleepers are available. Cots and pack-and-plays can be provided upon request. The hotel has a 3-story building with an elevator.

Breakfast is managed by attentive staff who keep the buffet well-stocked and clean. The selection is above average for a continental breakfast, with both hot and cold options. Disposable plates and cutlery are used. Coffee and tea are available in the lobby throughout the day, along with fresh cookies in the afternoon. There is no restaurant or bar on-site; however, numerous dining options are within a short walk along the waterfront and State Street.

The pool area is small but clean, with outdoor furniture and a sun terrace. The hot tub is separate but has been noted for occasional cleanliness issues. Note that the spa on-site is closed, and the pool and hot tub area may be under renovation at certain times (check ahead). A golf course is available within 3 km for an additional charge. There is no gym on site.

Wi-Fi signal strength is reliable in the lobby but may be weak on upper floors. Parking is free but limited; large vehicles cannot be accommodated.
