HOSTAL EUROPA, Barcelona

Located in the heart of the Gothic Quarter, the hostal is a 5-minute walk from Barcelona Cathedral and Plaza Catalunya, and 200 metres from La Boqueria Market. The metro station at Liceu provides direct service to the airport and other city areas. The cruise terminal is a 12-minute walk or short taxi ride away. The surrounding streets are lively with many restaurants and shops but can feel narrow at night. Cars cannot access the property directly, so luggage must be carried on foot from the nearest street.

Accommodation is simple and functional, with bedding and towels provided. Some rooms have been renovated with modern bathrooms, while others remain dated. Rooms facing busy corridors or stairwells tend to be noisier due to thin walls, so light sleepers should consider earplugs. Some rooms have small windows overlooking interior courtyards; a few have no windows at all. Air conditioning and heating are available. Double beds may feel cramped for two people. There is very limited storage, with only a small wardrobe or a few hangers. Rooms lack mini-fridges, safes, and kettles, though shared kettles, a fridge, and a microwave are available in the common area. Daily housekeeping and towel changes are provided.

The hostal does not have its own restaurant, bar, or room service for meals. A continental breakfast can be purchased separately at a nearby restaurant. The property has a vending machine for drinks and coffee. The surrounding area offers a wide range of restaurants, from traditional Spanish eateries to pizza and vegetarian-friendly options, all within a few minutes' walk. There is no dedicated dining facility on site, so most meals require stepping out into the neighbourhood.
