HOTEL MEDIODIA, Madrid

Hotel Mediodía occupies a prime position in Plaza del Emperador Carlos V, facing Atocha station. This provides immediate access to AVE high-speed trains, metro lines, commuter rail, and the airport bus (line 203). The Reina Sofía Museum is literally next door, while the Prado Museum and Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum are within a 5-minute walk. Retiro Park and the Royal Botanical Garden are also a few minutes away on foot. A taxi rank is located right at the hotel entrance, and metro stations are on the corner. The area is well served by restaurants, cafés, and shops, and many central landmarks such as Plaza Mayor are within a 15-20 minute walk. For cars, parking is not available at the hotel but a public car park is nearby.

Rooms are clean, functional, and include air conditioning, heating, a flat-screen TV, a safe, a fridge, and a private bathroom with a hairdryer. Some rooms offer city views, balconies overlooking the rear plaza, or courtyard outlooks. Double rooms and suites are generally spacious, while single rooms are notably compact. Interior rooms face a courtyard and are quieter, whereas road-facing rooms may experience street noise. Renovated rooms feature modern decor and fixtures, but some older rooms have dated furniture and thinner walls that allow noise from neighbouring rooms. The property does not provide in-room tea or coffee-making facilities. Some rooms have bathtubs, others have walk-in showers. Blackout curtains are effective in many rooms. The building preserves original stained glass windows and a classical staircase, adding character to the common areas.

A continental breakfast is served in the hotel's breakfast room for 14 EUR per person. The buffet includes bread, pastries, cold cuts, cheese, yoghurt, fruit, and hot drinks. For greater variety, many cafés, bars, and restaurants are located directly under the hotel and on the surrounding streets, offering Spanish and international options at various price points. There is no restaurant or room service at the hotel.
