THE CLOUD ONE WIEN-STAATSOPER, PART OF THE MOTEL ONE GROUP, Vienna

This hotel sits on one of the city's most central blocks, 50 metres from the Ringstraße boulevard and adjacent to the Vienna State Opera. The Hofburg Congress Centre and St Stephen's Cathedral are within a 10-minute walk, while Karlsplatz underground station (with three lines) is 100 metres away, making connections to the main train station and airport via S-Bahn straightforward. The area is dense with restaurants, cafés, and shops, including the Naschmarkt market. Getting to the airport takes about 30 minutes by train via Wien Hauptbahnhof (metro not available). For those arriving by car, no on-site parking exists, but a nearby garage offers a reduced daily rate of €22.

Rooms are available as single or double units, each fitted with a private bathroom (shower and hairdryer), air conditioning, and soundproof walls for quiet sleep. The standard room size is compact (around 14-16 m²), and many find the space adequate for short city breaks but tight for longer stays or carrying large luggage. Storage is limited to a rail with hangers; there is no traditional wardrobe, minibar, or desk in every room. Some rooms offer a small balcony or a view of Karlsplatz (rear-facing rooms). Heating is controlled by a thermostat, though some units reported slow warmth during cold mornings. Single rooms on the ground floor and basement levels tend to be smaller and darker; higher-floor rooms are brighter and more spacious. Daily housekeeping is standard.

Breakfast is served in the One Lounge area as a buffet with breads, pastries, cold cuts, cheeses, and hot drinks. Gluten-free items can be requested in advance. The selection is considered basic and not extensive; the buffet area can be busy and narrow. No other meals (lunch or dinner) are offered on-site. The bar is a standout feature, open all day and night, serving coffee, wine, beer, and spirits in a stylish setting. For those needing a fuller meal, the surrounding streets offer numerous restaurants and cafés within a 2- to 5-minute walk, though the hotel does not provide a list.

Wi-Fi is complimentary in all rooms and public spaces. The 24-hour reception can arrange airport transfers via a chauffeur service (~€42 per car, pre-booking advisable) and provides free luggage storage for early arrivals or late departures. Express check-in/out is free, as is daily housekeeping (an optional green service is offered to reduce cleaning agents). A separate ironing room is available. Meeting and banquet facilities are available for events of up to 10 people, with à la carte bar service. The hotel is fully non-smoking and has a lift, CCTV, key card access, and smoke alarms for security. Pets are allowed on request (€15 charge).
