RECREATION INN AND SUITES KELOWNA, Kelowna

The Recreation Inn & Suites sits on Highway 97 in central Kelowna, directly across from the Landmark District and next to the Parkinson Recreation Centre-a hub for fitness, aquatics, sports fields, and walking trails. A handful of restaurants and a grocery store are within 0.3-1 km, while downtown Kelowna with its pubs, craft breweries, shopping, and lakefront boardwalk is a 5-minute drive away. Okanagan Lake beaches, wineries, and golf courses are all within a short drive. The on-leash dog park is right next door, and more than 18 dog-friendly parks and beaches are nearby. The location is walkable to essentials and practical for car-based exploration, though the highway proximity can mean traffic noise in certain rooms.

The Standard Queen Room is the smallest unit, featuring one queen bed, a desk, fridge, microwave, coffee maker, and a private 3-piece ensuite. For more space, the 2 Queen Kitchenette adds a kitchenette and is also available in a pet-friendly version. The Family Suite offers two queen beds, one single bed, a full bath with bathtub, and most have balconies. The 1 Bedroom, 2 Queen Suite includes a separate bedroom with a queen bed plus another queen in the main living area, a lounge, and a full kitchen. The largest is the Apartment Suite (3 Bedroom), sleeping up to 8, with three queen beds (two in one bedroom), a living room with fireplace, dining table, full kitchen, private patio with BBQ, and a 50-inch flat-screen TV. All rooms include air conditioning, heating, cable TV, mini-fridge, and microwave. Some units have balconies. The property has older décor and furnishings, and while rooms are described as clean and comfortable, some mattresses have been noted as stiff or dated. Road-facing rooms may experience traffic noise; the window air conditioners can also produce sound. Third-floor rooms are accessible only by stairs.

The seasonal outdoor pool is heated, surrounded by sun loungers and a fence, and is typically open from late spring through September, though closures can occur for maintenance or weather. Pool/beach towels and swimming pool toys are provided. Off the pool deck is a seasonal dry sauna. The landscaped garden area features BBQ grills and picnic tables, and the property offers board games and outdoor games (e.g., lawn games) for borrowing. The adjacent Parkinson Recreation Centre offers additional leisure facilities (fitness, aquatics, tennis, pickleball) for a fee. No spa or hot tub is available on site.

Wi-Fi is free and available throughout the property. Parking is free, private, and on site with no reservation needed, though spaces can be tight when the hotel is full. A 24-hour front desk is staffed for check-in and general inquiries. Luggage storage is available at no charge. Daily housekeeping is provided. On-site laundry (coin-operated) costs $2 per wash and $2 per dry. Fax/photocopying is free of charge. For airport transfers, the hotel can arrange a taxi (approximately $40 one way). Pets are allowed only in designated rooms (2-queen kitchenette units) with a $20/night fee for one pet and $30/night for two; pet bowls are available. Smoking is not permitted inside the property, but designated smoking areas are available on site.
