The hotel occupies a privileged position on Plaza Reial, one of Barcelona's most atmospheric squares, lined with restaurants and bars. Las Ramblas is less than five minutes' walk away, and the Liceu metro station is within a few minutes on foot, providing direct lines across the city. The Gothic Quarter's narrow streets and historic architecture surround the property, with the Cathedral, Picasso Museum, Boqueria Market, and Columbus Monument all reachable on foot. The cruise port is 15-20 minutes' walk away; the beach takes 20-30 minutes. Taxis and buses are plentiful on nearby Las Ramblas. The square itself remains active late into the night, with street performers and outdoor dining, making the location ideal for travellers who want to be at the centre of Barcelona's energy.

Rooms are compact by most standards and best suited as a base for sleeping and showering rather than extended lounging. Each includes air conditioning, heating, and a private bathroom. Some rooms have views of Plaza Reial, while others face an internal courtyard. Balconies are not available. The walls are thin, and noise from the square, corridors, and neighbouring rooms is common; rooms facing the courtyard tend to be quieter. The furniture is basic and dated, with limited storage; some rooms have only two single beds with one pillow each (extra pillows can be requested). There are no kettles, fridges, or safes in the rooms. Towels are changed daily, and rooms are cleaned daily. Hairdryers are available from reception.

Breakfast is a simple, sweet-only buffet. Offerings include coffee from a machine, tea, orange juice, yogurt, cornflakes, croissants, muffins, bread rolls with butter and jam. There is no hot food, cheese, ham, fruit, or toaster. The breakfast room is in the basement (also used as the hotel's bar/restaurant area), which some find dark. For a wider or savoury meal, numerous cafés and restaurants surround Plaza Reial. The hotel does not operate a separate restaurant, but its outdoor terrace bar on the square serves drinks and food. Several high-rated dining options are within a two-minute walk, including La fonda, Viana, Los Caracoles, and others.

The 24-hour front desk allows check-in at any hour and can assist with taxi bookings and local advice. Free luggage storage is available both before check-in and after check-out, making it easy to explore the city with a late flight. Wi-Fi is free throughout the hotel but the connection can be weak at night. A vending machine for drinks is located in the lobby.
