HOTEL PENINSULAR, Barcelona

Las Ramblas is a one-minute walk away, with its street performers, pavement cafés and the famous Boqueria Market (250 m). Barcelona Cathedral is 500 m distant, and Plaça Catalunya - with airport buses and local trains - is a 10-minute walk. The immediate area around the hotel is a mix of lively bars and restaurants, though some side streets can feel less secure late at night. The Raval district offers a broad selection of eateries, including Bar Canete (0.5 km) and several other dining options within a 0.5 km radius. The Metro provides efficient city-wide and airport connections, making a car unnecessary for most trips.

Room types include options with twin, double or multiple single beds. Many rooms are compact, with limited storage and no TV, telephone, minibar, hairdryer or kettle. Some rooms have no exterior window, only a frosted pane opening onto the internal atrium, providing little natural light and limited ventilation. Windows on ground-floor rooms may not lock fully. Walls are thin, and noise from adjacent rooms, the corridor and the lift shaft can be significant, especially at night. The air conditioning in some units is restricted to a minimum temperature of 23 °C and may beep periodically. Beds are firm; mattresses and pillows vary in comfort. Daily housekeeping changes towels and makes the bed. Rooms with a street-facing window and balcony offer more light and a view of the city.

Breakfast includes bread, rolls, butter, jam, sliced meat and cheese, boiled eggs, croissants, muffins, yogurt, coffee, tea and juice. The selection is the same every day, with no hot dishes beyond boiled eggs, no fresh fruit or vegetables, and no toaster. The coffee is consistently noted as good. For guests needing a more substantial or varied morning meal, the surrounding area is filled with cafés and food markets, including the Boqueria Market (250 m). The hotel does not operate a restaurant or bar for other meals, but dozens of dining options are within a five-minute walk on Las Ramblas and in the Raval district.

The central atrium with its hanging plants, skylight and seating area is the standout leisure feature - a calm, garden-like spot for reading, working or socialising. There is no pool, spa, gym, sauna, jacuzzi, games room or dedicated children's play area. The hotel's location, however, places the entire Barcelona leisure offer within easy walking or metro distance: the beach is about 20 minutes on foot, and the Gothic Quarter, El Born and the port are all a short stroll away.
