THE ONYX HOTEL HOLLYWOOD, Los Angeles

The hotel sits in a central Hollywood location, offering easy access to Highway 101 and major attractions. The Hollywood Walk of Fame, TCL Chinese Theatre, and the Hollywood Bowl amphitheatre are all within a short drive or a 15-minute walk. The Metro B Line station is just two blocks away, providing direct rail connections to Universal Studios and Downtown Los Angeles. A Target, CVS, and various fast-food outlets are within a 5-minute walk. The surrounding area has a visible homeless presence and can feel less safe at night, particularly for those traveling alone or with children. The on-site parking lot is free but tight and open to the street, which has led to concerns about vehicle security.

The property offers rooms with private bathrooms, air conditioning, flat-screen TVs, mini-refrigerators, and coffee-making facilities. Bed sizes range from full to king, though some beds are reported as low to the ground and hard. Rooms are generally clean but can feel outdated, with worn carpets, stained upholstery, and older furniture. Noise is a major consideration: an unmarked nightclub attached to the hotel plays loud music until 2 am, and the building's thin walls and creaky floors carry sound from hallways and adjacent rooms. Windows offer some natural light but are not fully soundproof. The elevator is frequently out of service, making upper-floor rooms difficult to access for those with mobility issues. Wheelchair-accessible rooms with roll-in showers are available. For light sleepers, requesting a room on a higher floor or away from the club side is essential.

The complimentary continental breakfast includes toast, pre-packaged pastries (such as danishes or muffins), coffee, and apple or orange juice. There are no hot dishes like eggs, bacon, or waffles. The breakfast area is small and the selection is best suited for a quick start to the day. For a more substantial meal, the immediate area offers numerous fast-food options including McDonald's, Panda Express, and El Pollo Loco within a 5-minute walk, as well as the Leo's Taco Truck across the street. The hotel does not operate a restaurant, bar, or room service.

Free public parking is available on site with no reservation needed, though the lot is tight and open. Wi-Fi is free in all areas. The front desk operates 24 hours and provides express check-in/check-out. A business centre is available. Luggage storage is offered for early arrivals or late departures. The property has a lift, though it is frequently reported as broken. Facilities for disabled guests are available, including wheelchair-accessible rooms. Cots are provided on request. The hotel does not allow pets. Accepted payment methods include American Express, Visa, and MasterCard; a refundable security deposit (typically $200) is required at check-in.
