HOTEL VALERI, Rome

Set on the historic Caelian Hill, the hotel is within a 5-minute walk of the Basilica of San Giovanni in Laterano and a 15-minute walk of the Imperial Forums, Trajan's Market, and San Giovanni Metro (lineA). The bus stop just outside runs routes 81 and 714 directly to Piazza Venezia, Termini station, and the Vatican for €1.50 per ride. The area is lined with typical Roman restaurants in the Monti district (RioneMonti), and Villa Celimontana park is a 5-minute stroll away. The quiet residential neighbourhood feels safe and offers easy access to major attractions while avoiding the city-centre crowds.

The property offers Comfort, King Standard, Deluxe, and Triple rooms. Comfort and King Standard rooms are smaller and may feel basic, with some ground-floor units showing wear, older furniture, and limited soundproofing. Deluxe rooms are significantly larger, freshly updated, feature a large double orthopaedic mattress, elegant modern furnishings, a plasma TV, and either a private balcony/patio or a more spacious bathroom. All rooms include air conditioning (known to be problematic in summer - check and request a fan promptly), flat-screen satellite TV, minibar, private bathroom with bath or shower, hairdryer, and free toiletries. Some rooms offer quiet courtyard views while road-facing units can be noisy. A lift connects the first to third floors but does not reach the ground floor. For a consistently quiet, modern, and comfortable stay, choose a Deluxe room on an upper floor facing the courtyard.

Breakfast is available for €15 per person and includes pastries, cheese, cold cuts, eggs, yoghurt, fresh juice (the house ACE juice is a highlight), and good coffee. The selection is continental, consistent day-to-day, and generally well-liked for its quality and the personal service from staff. Those wanting a fuller or hot breakfast can find several cafés and trattorias within a short walk. The hotel has a bar, snack bar, and coffee house on site, and offers packed lunches on request. Special dietary menus (including gluten-free) can be arranged with advance notice.

The hotel does not have a pool, spa, or fitness room. The garden terrace and courtyard provide a quiet outdoor space for reading or relaxing. Activities available for a charge include bicycle rental, bike tours, walking tours, and cultural classes. Villa Celimontana park is a 5-minute walk away, offering a green escape with shaded paths.
