HOSTEL DIANA PARK, Helsinki

Hostel Diana Park occupies a historic building on a quiet side street in central Helsinki. The Central Railway Station is a 10-minute walk, giving direct rail access to the airport via train or night bus. The closest tram stop is within a few minutes, connecting to the West Harbour around 05:30. Helsinki Cathedral is 1 km away, and the Market Square is a 13-minute walk. The area is dense with bars, restaurants, and shops, including Cafe Bar No 9, Gaijin, and a supermarket less than 3 minutes away. The location is compact and walkable, with most sights reachable on foot.

The hostel offers private single rooms and dormitories (4-8 persons). All rooms have a sink inside the room, which can be useful for brushing teeth without queuing. Some rooms include a TV. The building is older, and rooms can feel compact; storage is limited to small lockers (suitable for a backpack) inside the dorms. Dorm beds may have privacy curtains, but not all rooms have them. Beds are made on arrival. Rooms facing the courtyard tend to be quieter, while those opening onto the hallway can be noisier due to the open stairway and reception area. The old building means thin walls and creaky bunk beds are common. Some rooms have a radiator and air purifier, but ventilation can be limited.

A continental breakfast is served for an additional 5 EUR per person. The kitchen is fully equipped with a stove, oven, microwave, kettle, fridge, and all utensils, allowing guests to prepare their own meals. Free tea and coffee are available in the kitchen. The hostel does not operate a restaurant, but there is a snack bar, and breakfast in the room is available. The surrounding block has multiple dining options within 300 metres, including Asian, Italian, and Finnish cuisine, as well as cafes.

There is no spa, gym, sauna, or pool on-site. The common kitchen doubles as a social lounge, with board games and puzzles available for guests. The hostel does not organise events or activities, but provides tourist information and a city map. Nearby parks and the Esplanade (600 metres) offer green space for relaxation.

Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the property. The 24-hour reception offers luggage storage (free for same-day use; 5 EUR/day for longer storage), and safety deposit boxes for valuables (with a small charge). Daily housekeeping is included. Laundry service is available for an additional fee. The shared kitchen includes a fridge, freezer, stove, oven, microwave, kettle, and cooking utensils, with a designated shared fridge shelf labelled by room. Bed linen and towels are provided free of charge. Pets are allowed on request, with possible charges. CCTV and security alarms are in place.
