JR-EAST HOTEL METS SHIBUYA, Tokyo

JR-East Hotel Mets Shibuya sits on the quieter southern edge of Shibuya, about 700 metres from the famous Shibuya Scramble Crossing and a 4-minute walk from Konno Hachimangu Shrine. The hotel is integrated with Shibuya Station via the New South Exit, giving immediate access to the JR Yamanote Line and Narita Express from Narita Airport. For air travellers, Tokyo Haneda Airport is 20 km away. There is no hotel shuttle to the airport, but the station connection makes train transfer straightforward. The surrounding streets contain a Lawson convenience store, several coffee shops, and restaurants such as Uobei Shibuya Dogenzaka and Café Veloce within a few minutes' walk. The location works well for pedestrian exploration of Shibuya central district, while the hotel's position near the station reduces the need for taxis or long walks when heading to other parts of Tokyo.

Breakfast is available for an additional ¥1980 per person and features a buffet format with both Japanese and Western-style dishes including items such as French toast. The breakfast room opens at 06:30 and last orders are taken at 10:00. The selection is described as decent, with some variation over multiple days, though it may lack extensive fresh fruit or dairy options. For guests with specific dietary needs or those wanting a lighter start, free coffee and tea are available in the lobby. The lobby also provides a self-service amenity bar with items like toiletries and bath salts, but there is no on-site restaurant or bar for lunch or dinner. The surrounding area offers many restaurants and cafés within a 5- to 10-minute walk, including sushi, ramen, and convenience store options.

The hotel provides a coin-operated laundry room located on the same floor as the front desk (4th floor), which is popular with travellers on longer stays. Six washing machines are available, and guests can check real-time machine availability from the television in their room. Laundry detergent is supplied, and change for the machines can be obtained at the reception. There is no swimming pool, spa, gym, or other leisure facility within the hotel. Those seeking wellness or fitness options will need to use external gyms or parks in the surrounding Shibuya area.

The hotel operates a 24-hour front desk handling check-in (including automated kiosks with staff assistance), check-out, luggage storage, and luggage forwarding services. Luggage can be stored before check-in and after check-out at no charge, and the hotel accepts luggage delivery up to 3 days prior to check-in. There is a guest laundry room on the 4th floor with coin-operated machines and monitored availability via the room TV. The lobby offers free coffee and tea as well as a self-service amenity bar for toiletries. Other services include a baby cot (limited number, request in advance) and a scale for weighing luggage. Parking is available but limited to ¥2000 per day, requires advance reservation, and accommodates private vehicles only. The front desk staff speak English, though not fluently, and are known for being helpful. Accepted payment methods include American Express, Visa, MasterCard, JCB, Diners Club, NICOS, UC, and UnionPay. Pets are not allowed, and smoking rooms are available.
