The hotel sits on a quiet side street, making it a surprisingly peaceful base for such a central location. You can walk to the BC Legislature, the Empress Hotel, and the waterfront in under five minutes; Butchart Gardens is a 27-minute drive. Several bus stops are nearby, including the Courtney Street stop for city buses from the ferry. For guests arriving by ferry connector bus, the depot is about four blocks away. The area is safe during the day but some homeless activity has been noted at night; sticking to main streets after dark is advisable. There is no airport shuttle - a taxi costs about CAD 60 each way.

Rooms are generally large by city-centre standards and offer a desk, wardrobe, armchairs, and a carpeted floor. All have a private bathroom with bath/shower combo, hairdryer, and free toiletries. Kitchenette suites are fully stocked with utensils and pots/pans for up to four people. The building has central air conditioning - there are no individual room AC units, and windows open only a few inches. A standing fan is provided in each room. Road-facing rooms can be noisy from traffic and passersby; rooms facing the inner courtyard are significantly quieter. Light sleepers should avoid rooms near the elevator or emergency stairwell, as door-slamming and hallway noise are common due to thin walls. No rooms feature a balcony. The overall decor is dated but functional; most mattresses are comfortable, though some beds have been reported as overly soft or sunken in the middle.

Argyle Attic operates only for breakfast - there is no bar, pub, or dinner service on the property. For lunch and dinner, guests have dozens of choices within a few blocks: iZushi Japanese, Vista 18 Westcoast Grill, Curry Club, Pagliacci's, Little Thai Place, and Mucho Burrito are all around 0.3-0.5 km away. A 7-Eleven is just around the corner for supplies. Kitchenette rooms allow full self-catering, and lobby coffee/tea is available 24/7. A nearby restaurant offers a 10-15% discount for hotel guests for breakfast.

The indoor pool is located in the basement and is heated; it has a narrow deck surround and no seating for non-swimmers. Guests must book a 30-minute time slot at the front desk, after which the area is sanitised. The fitness centre is small but functional, equipped with a TV and basic cardio machines. There is no hot tub, sauna, or spa. For outdoor leisure, Beacon Hill Park is a 10-minute walk away and the Inner Harbour waterfront is two blocks from the hotel.

The hotel offers a 24-hour front desk, luggage storage (available at any time for early arrivals or late departures), and a lift serving all three floors. Laundry facilities (one washer and one dryer) are available for CAD 2 per load; detergent pods can be purchased at reception. Bicycles can be taken into the room or locked to a rack near the front desk. A business computer and a printer are available for guest use in the lobby. The parking garage has a 6'5" height clearance and is secure with key-card access; spaces are extremely tight - large vehicles may not fit and may need to use the nearby public library lot or street parking (free 20:00-08:00). Accessibility is limited: the front entrance has two steps to the check-in desk, and while a ramp exists in a side courtyard, it is not clearly marked and lacks an automatic door opener. No accessible rooms exist. Payment is by credit card only; cash and debit are not accepted.
